Yeah, you know they'll drop a load of prices and titles.
Am I right in thinking that they should have had the deal where you vote on a specific title out of 3 and the winner gets a huge price cut?
I could have sworn they did this at least a week prior to the sales. I remember grabbing the Watchmen Archie Ship last year for $15 when the original price was like $125. And it's actually still sat, unopened with my collection.

re: Amazon Blu-ray Discounts and Deals Thread #27
It's interesting that this year Amazon has listed prices for misc. items for the whole week instead of just 1 day at a time. Sadly the majority of BF prices remain blank, so it's hard to judge if they are good deals yet.
I haven't had time (and won't until this week) to work through the list and decide exactly what I want, but on the surface I don't see enough that jumped out at me to make me think "oh, I've got to sign up and pay $79 for Prime right now" (others have heard me complain that I'm all out of Amazon Mom Prime trials and I either would have to pay or resort to involved schemes or duplicate accounts which I don't want to risk). Seeing the list chances are high I'm going to go without Prime this season and be very selective.
For instance, I picked up Cider House Rules BD for $6.99 at Target or Fry's. At $4.99 + $2.99 shipping it's no better since I won't have Prime. Now if Amazon had other interesting stuff in that time slot so I could hit $25, it would be a different story. SO that's probably a pass. Same story with The Crow BD. That title is worth only $4.99 to me on BD, so it's a pass with $2.99 shipping and nothing else I want in that time slot Archer, Burn Season, Boy Meets World, Psych, Big Bang, etc.... I know nothing about those series and don't have time to research them. I've heard a few positives about Weeds, but if they're all $8.99 each on BD, would I just buy the first season or blind buy the whole series? I have to resort to watching You Tube clips to try to decide. Sigh. So much time, so little to do. Strike that. Reverse it.
About the only FOR SURE thing for me is I'll pay $8.99 + $2.99 shipping for Mad Men S4 BD if I must. And THANKFULLY Amazon put that on Thursday night before all the madness begins so I'll be at home then.

I'm hoping that LotR Extended is at least price matched with Best Buy, although I may just wait awhile longer for that one. I know it will be cheap someday.

lizard, if you have a Blockbuster Video near you, I recommend going in and looking at their new Blu-ray section: they've recently had the special edition of Red, the version with special features and high-definition audio, on "clearance" for $12.99. The one Amazon will likely reduce is the movie-only edition.

I don't see why people are already freaking out just because they aren't seeing things in the Lightning Deals that they want. There will be so many discs marked down as part of the overall sale. Just be patient. There will be loads of price drops on all kinds of titles.

This link worked better for me, it shows the deals through the 28th. The first link I used has dvdtalk in the url and didn't show the final two days of sale.

So for that, they want more info.

Is there like a major surplus of Weeds DVDs floating around? Seems like every Holiday some retailer is trying to get rid of them.

I suppose, but the last few years has shown us a couple of things. First, the prices will start dropping next week even before Black Friday, which will give people a better idea of what kinds of deals there might be. And second, Amazon will match most of its competitors prices.

That's absolutely been my experience. I've already seen random DVD's priced 50-67% off this week with no sale to explain them (and they were sold directly by Amazon and not a reseller).

I really hope they match Best Buy's prices on Crazy Stupid Love, Horrible Bosses and Green Lantern. If they do, I won't have to go out on BF at all. Fingers crossed!

OK Amazon, it appears that Super 8 will be $19.99 at Target. Use the $5 coupon and that makes it $14.99. I hope that they at least lower their price to $19.99 ($14.99 with their coupon) before they ship my preorder...

I order this with a total of $19.99. It came up in my QP today at $21.74 so I try to used the $5.00 off and it gave me a problem. I emailed them. They drop the price to $16.74 that was good, only then they took the extra $5.00 making it $11.74. They did this on their own.
