I've been tempted to order it, but lately every time I order a tv set thinking I got a good deal it goes even lower somewhere else within a 2-3 week timespan.

I am gonna try and hold off and hope to get it for around $25 or less after Xmas. By then I am bound to have atleast a couple of giftcards to use.

If Chuck drops below $25, I'll pull the trigger. I got Supernatural season 6 from them during Black Friday week for $22.99 and that was a great deal.

Amazon.com has a promotion until 12/15 to save $20 with purchase of 3 select BD Disney Combo Packs (most of them 3D). As posted by Seth, several of the combo packs are currently selling for $24.99, such as Cars 2, The Lion King, and POTC 4. So that would be $74.97 minus $20 for the promo = $54.97 for all 3!

Of course, keep in mind that although the promo is good through tomorrow, prices could jump (or drop) at any time...

Eh. Might as well join the Disney Club if you're going to put out that much for these titles.

Pre-orders for The English Patient and Frida are $9.99 also. Just grabbed them both (have Shakespeare ordered already).

Now amazon, could you drop The Piano to that price as well?

This is 3D/ Blu-ray/ DVD Combo ... you can't get this anywhere at this price. I can sell this on Ebay and earn at least $5 from each.

I'm gonna try!

Ah yes. I forgot about the supercool new thing called 3D. Well, if this over-priced format appears to be a deal, then who am I to say it isn't.

^ I'll admit the format is overpriced. But it truly IS supercool, and those prices are definitely a deal... I only paid $550 for my 60" 3D HDTV so I dont mind investing in the movies at this price. But I'm not jumping at any prices over $25. I'm averaging under 20 bucks each...

For $550 I assume that was a 3D plasma? I would've guessed you used Chase Ultimate Rewards on Cyber Monday, except their killer 3D TV deal was a 59" Samsung PN59D550 plasma for $575 and not a 60" whatever. My 55" LG LCD/LED 3D TV cost double :-(. I'll always pay at least $5 more for 3D (and up to $10), but sadly the price difference is usually more and I go with 2D. A good example is Legend of the Guardians... 2D for $8 at Blockbuster or 3D for $23 at Amazon. $15 is too much of a difference. I'm just hoping the 3D comes down in price someday. How I wish studios would offer current owners to send in POP tabs from their 2D BD versions and get a bare 3D BD disc sent to them for $5-$10 + reasonable shipping. I know, dream on...

I would not go so far as to say they are over price. Per say. If you look at the cost of a Blu/DVD/DC to a Blu/DVD/DC/3D. Taking into account the 1st week (most) that a 3D come out. You will see they cost about $24 to $27 (Cars 2, Lion King, Cap). Why the one with the DC cost close to the same ($20 to $24.00). Here is where it gets better. The DC most will not be us and will exp on the buyer. You are paying for it. On the other hand you are paying for a 3D that will not exp on you. Even if you do not own a 3D TV (All players now seem to be 3D). You can sell it if you wish (I have paid $10 for them, to save the cost on upgrading the version I own). Or hold on to them. 3D TVs are going down. So a year from now, your DC of Cars 2 will not work. But your 3D will.

Just pickup a 60 lcd with glass at Costco for under $1800. I have to see what the 40lcd cost but it was not all that much (all the same brand, so I do not need to buy extra glass).

I have found right now if you buy them the week they come out they seem to be around $23 to $26 (Smurfs was $25) yet the week after they go up way over $33. Being that the 3D TVs are being sold cheaper I see the cost going down.

I know this is the wrong thread to talk about, but Fry's has been deep discounting the 3D titles, and the Disney 3D titles were 2/$35 a couple weeks ago (I picked up Lion King, Toy Story, Beauty & the Beast, and Nightmare Before Christmas), and another sale where most of the titles were $16 (I picked up Thor, Captain America, Resident Evil Afterlife, Rio, Polar Express, Final Destination 4, and Legends of the Guardians), many more were included in the sale.

I would have picked up a couple more with the Amazon sale, but the titles that I wanted were $35 before discount, so the price was still too high.

To bad you cannot buy them at that cost over the web. I do keep a eye on Amazon price matching some of them.

I know we're sidetracking the Amazon thread briefly a bit, but not much is happening in Amazonland right now. I guess we should all look to see if there's an official 3D BD discussion thread?

Maybe I wasn't clear. I already have a 55" LCD/LED 3D TV and it's good enough for me (much better than the ancient 50" Sony it replaced). I was just curious from kenbenobi which 3D TV he got so cheap.

I also was mentioning the price difference between 2D and 3D BDs is usually too much for me. You're right about the $23-$26 range (I'd say $23-$30 is more accurate, i.e. Fright Night) for new 3D releases. The problem is that I'm still pretty rigid about $15 max for any 2D BD and $20 max for any 3D BD, and without coupons $23-$30 is outside that range. When Disney adds in a $5 coupon, if it's a movie I like, it's just enough to get me to buy the 3D BD. I got Kung Fu Panda 2 3D because of the $5 coupon (+ BB's additional $5 coupon + plush), but Smurfs and Fright Night... too expensive still. I may have to wait a while but Fry's or Amazon will have the 3D ones for sale under $20 eventually. If they'd just price 3D BDs at $20 and 2D BDs at $15 on release week, then I'd buy almost every movie I liked immediately. When they try to squeeze another $10 out of me, then I'll wait.

My problem with the Fry's 2 for $35 3D Disney titles was this... except for Chicken Little 3D which I bought (because I didn't own it) I already own all of their other Disney BDs on 2D (a few on 3D). I bought the Disney 2D BDs before I got my 3D TV and discovered how much I like 3D. So I can't justify buying movies again just for the 3D even at $17.50. If I traded in my only watched once Disney 2D BDs, if I'm lucky would I get $6 at FYE or $12 on eBay after fees? Not worth it. I decided I will pay up to $10 more to get a 3D BD over the 2D BD, but $20 is still my limit for a movie with 3D. Basically, it means I decided I'm not rebuying in 3D anything I already own on 2D BD unless I can upgrade for under $10.

I totally missed the Thor, Captain America, Legend of the Guardians $16 sale. Where was that? I would've gone for those not owning any of them (well I have Legend of the Guardians 2D now from Blockbuster for $8). I did get Narnia 3, Rio and Polar Express from BB for $16.99 or $17.99 on BF. I still don't know if Chicken Little was a good idea since it has awful reviews about 3D ghosting on certain model TVs. I asked questions and Googled a lot and couldn't find any answers whether my TV would have the problem or just how bad the ghosting is.

re: Amazon Blu-ray Discounts and Deals Thread #27

While I haven't officially gone 3D yet, I have been keeping my eyes open and have regularly seen 3D titles at various places for $19.99 or less. Amazon seems to be one of the more expensive places online to get 3D titles at this point. $15 is pretty much my price point when I go 3D, and I regularly have seen opportunities to get ones for that price. Many of those were deals that were posted here in this forum.
