Re: Amazon Blu-ray Discounts and Deals Thread #27

Mine showed the price drop to $24.99, then the coupon, then today I got the email for the $5 difference to be put back on my card, to in the end mine will be $15+tax (I think).

Re: Amazon Blu-ray Discounts and Deals Thread #27

My order showed the $29.95 price as shipped (less $5 coupon). I called customer service on Monday and was told that Amazon doesn't price match after shipping, but he offered to give me a $5 credit "as an exception". Two days later, I received the email about the pre-order price guarantee and received the $10 credit to my gift card balance. So, I wound up getting the 4-disc set for about $10.

Kind of harsh to a "cool new member" don't you think?

It wasn't directed at him personally. Just to the last page of Avengers order updates.

Don't know if this has already been posted, but there's also one for Rise of the Guardians.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.htm...d_i=B008OIXXYK

Amazon.com Movies and TV: Rise of the Guardians Movie Ticket Offer

Buy any of these movies between September 19, 2012 and November 24, 2012 and receive a promotional code which you can redeem for a Hollywood Movie Money® certificate valid for up to $8.00 off a kid's movie ticket to see the movie Rise of the Guardians. Code and certificate are valid from 11/21/2012 - 1/31/2013 at participating theaters
Unfortunately the only choice of films to pre-order are the three versions of Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. Plus it states it is off of a kid's movie ticket.

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted tickets stated $8 off of a kid's movie ticket but I had no problem using them. When the tickets printed out, it said nothing about kids tickets.

This is uncalled for and unnecessary. It's a longstanding tradition in the BARGAINS forums that people not only post about deals, but their own personal experience with securing a deal or not securing a deal. It's not just about a laundry list of deals.

I kind of see Arpeggi's point though. It's frustrating to see this thread bumped, only to discover its more Avengers talk.

Re: Amazon Blu-ray Discounts and Deals Thread #27

Threads detour all the time. If there were other things to discuss in this thread it probably would have crowded out all THE AVENGERS talk. I get so tired of people being rude just because a thread takes a direction they have no interest in. Topics aren't always obsessively adhered to on forums because human nature does not always process rules in such a fashion. The best advice remains the simplest: Don't read posts you aren't interested in.

Lest I go too OT: I for one have not bought a Blu from Amazon in over a month and it's not just because of the new imposed tax. I haven't seen any deals lately that are even remotely attractive to me. Has anyone else felt a dearth of solid bargains?

I agree. Although technically I bought a Blu-ray from their UK website. Amazon really hasn't had much in a while.

I've bought some new catalog releases and gotten a few things from the marketplace. (I am finding it beats amazon's price even with the $2.98 per item shipping fee on some titles).

The latter part of this year is pretty strong as far as catalog releases go, and there are future releases coming that I will want at some point in time, but whether I get them from amazon is another question.

Best Buy has also gotten more of my business in the past year than they have before. Decent sale prices and the Upgrade and Save promo have beaten amazon quite a few times.

Good advice. Another option is to just subscribe to the threads one is interested in and only open the thread if the recent emails make it seem worth checking out.

I don't know, they seem to be the same as ever to me. Lots of recent great deals like Avengers 3D combo for $15, a Les Paul BD for under $5, and tons of great used deals as always.

Anyone have this? I have the original Tron BD set, and was waiting for Tron Legacy 3D set to hit $15; but does this set have anything exclusive?

I have it. The five discs are Tron on BD, Legacy on BD3D, Legacy on BD, Legacy on DVD, and a Legacy digital copy on yet another disc. Since you already have the original Tron, you're not getting anything exclusive above the 4-disc Legacy set unless you cherish lenticular animated slipcovers.

Thanks Adam! I'm not that into slipcovers, but if I factor in selling my unopened Tron set, maybe this daily deal is the best way to get them both anyway.

I think Tron is an enrollment in the DMC and using Tron 3D (or this Tron 3D set) as a fulfillment will probably yield a little better deal.

You should've sold it in November 2010. I got $140 for mine

I pre -ordered The Dark Knight Rises: Limited Edition Cowl (Blu-ray/DVD Combo+UltraViolet Digital Copy) and it applied a $3 dollar promotion to my order making it only $24.99. I'm not sure if it was because I was using my Amazon credit card to place the order or if this is for everyone.

Did you pre-order Titanic? It sounds like the $3 promotional credit they gave to those who pre-ordered it.
