Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Wish they would have done this before the 20% sale! I'm going to need to drive to one of the farther away stores; the one down the street has nothing I want. Still very cool!

I got a $5 off $15 coupon, can I use that and get the free Blu-ray at the same time?

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Can confirm that the free Blu-ray/DVD deal works. Unfortunately my local BL had little worth getting, even for free. Settled for World War Z 3D Blu-ray/Blu-ray/DVD/Digital combo.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
You can stack up to 4 of those $5 off $15 coupons and also use them during F&F 20% off sales. Just be aware that the 20% comes off before the coupon is applied so if you're going for the higher discount ($15 off $75) you'll have to be sure your 20% off total will still be above the minimum for that (I discovered that one the hard way and found I'd only needed ~$2 of something to trigger the higher discount).
I've frequently stacked 2 of the $5 off $15 to get $10 off $20.

I want by last night and managed to find a few titles I might want for free. Hid them just in case... pickin's were pretty slim.

I wonder if this an easy way to make room for incoming new stock, or to get out of selling discs altogether . . .

I found 1 br of The Misfits. I have the dvd, but for me that's MM's best starring film. It was either that, a blu of Star Trek movie 1, or a dvd box of The Adams Family S2. I don't know if I would like the Adams Family as an adult. I though is was cute as a 9 year old.

I opted for THERE'S NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS, a splashy Cinemascope musical starring Marilyn. Not much to choose from in BluRays, but this is a goodie.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
For my free disc, picked up The Misfits. With the $5 off of $15 purchase, picked up There's No Business Like Show Business, Some Like It Hot & River of No Return. Four classic Monroe films for $10!

My wife, son (11), and I just started watching The Addams Family on Hulu. Hadn't seen it since I was a kid (and loved it then). It's still charming and mostly entertaining, but DANG is that show heavy with the laugh track. Every moment if silence is filled with laughter, even after things that aren't even mildly amusing. It gets old really fast.

Thanks for posting the free disc deal, Cardsfan111. I did not get the e-mail but it was on their rewards club website, so I stopped in last night and opted for Star Trek: Into Darkness, (3D, Blu, DVD + digital copy) priced at $5. It was the only copy I saw, and I looked at every disc on the rack. It's 10.56 on Amazon and I got it free!

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Nice deal, thanks for posting. Stopped in my local Big Lots today expecting things to be picked over but they had a surprisingly decent selection. They had many of the Marilyn Monroe titles but none I didn't already have. With the 5 off 15 coupon I found on my rewards account I ended up with 4 blu-rays for a total of 10 bucks plus tax:
Double Indemnity 70th Anniversary Limited Edition (I think I snagged the only copy)
Star Trek -- 3 Disc Digital Copy Special Edition (the J.J. Abrams film)
Grand Hotel (upgrade of the DVD I've had since 2005 )
Hondo (I swear they had at least 20 copies of this title)

Star Trek -- 3 Disc Digital Copy Special Edition (the J.J. Abrams film)

Would've bought Hondo at full price if they'd bothered to do it in 3D. It was even on a now-defunct digital service for a while.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
I went today and picked up 4 $5 titles:
The Girl on the Train
Hondo
Gentelmen Prefer Blondes
Savages
I got one for free and one was actually $2.50. It must have been on clearance and not properly marked. I paid $14.66 after I donated $1 to a children's hospital.
I was looking for Double Indemnity and Some Like It Hot, but couldn't find them. I'm going to go to a different Big Lots when I'm on vacation next week. The racks looked full and not picked through at all at my local Big Lots.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
I saw quite a few good movies available for $5 at the local Big Lots. Most of the Marilyn films including Bus Stop, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, No Business Like Show Business, Niagara, the Misfits, Seven Year Inch, How To Marry A Millionaire etc, All or most of the Original Crew Star Trek movies plus the 3 disc first Chris Pine Star Trek, the steel book MASH, and Hondo. On DVD I saw the Carole Lombard Glamour box set.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Picked up 'Anchors Aweigh' for my free BD disc. Couldn't find 'Double Indemnity' amidst the endless array of Startreks, TMNTs and Kungfu Pandas in every store. Was very tempted to get DVDs instead, specially the Duke's multi-feature Paramount sets, some of whicht may never make it to HD. There were a couple of them, one with 'McLintock, Island in the Sky, High and the Mighty, Hondo' and another one with 'Sons of Katie Elder, Shootist, El Dorado' but I have sworn off DVDs for most parts. Also saw Glenn Ford's 'Plunder of the Sun' DVD but wasn't going to pay $5 for it.
Also, curious as to why those single Marilyn Monroe discs are exciting everyone when an entire can be had for $20 (admit the packaging is deficient but...)
EDIT: Never mind, that set does not have 'Bus Stop' and 'Niagara'

If I'm awake enough after tomorrow's morning football game, I may go to the 2nd closest BL & see if they have 3 movies I want to use the $5 off $15.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
Used the $5 off $15 coupon and got five 3D titles for $10, all doubles or triples for resale up here (and to offset paying a bit more for them previously during that BOGO a couple of weeks back.
STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS
HERCULES
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES
KUNG FU PANDA (x2)
The KUNG FU PANDA packs were marked down to $2.50.
My store still had a huge selection so clearly even ‘free’ isn’t enough for some people to bother with discs these days.

Well... the store here still had a huge selection - but it's mostly the same titles they've had for the past 6 months. Stuff that's already been picked through/over.
I found a couple to pick up but wasn't that excited. I got the first 2 Wolverine movies (along with some cans of black beans for my 6yo grandson who's visiting and eats little else) using a $5 off $15 and the free disc load. I like the movies but in all honesty my DVDs are good enough for those. Everything else they had I either already own copies of or just aren't interested.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays
I split our purchases to use the freebie, the $5 off $15 and the $10 off $50 (we had some other things we wanted and a few more Blue). For the freebie, I punched my phone # in to get rewards.
When they rang me up for my 3 $5 Blus ($15), he scanned the barcode from the coupon for my account. For some reason the coupon wouldn't take. He tried and tried and still the coupon would not take. So I was about to say forget it when it came back that 1 of the 3 titles was Free so the total was not over $15. Not sure if there was some strange B2G1Free promo or somehow we got 2 free $5 movies.
We paid $10 for those 3 and then did the remaining items in our bigger order. 1 of the Blu titles (RoboCop) was 50% off the clearance price of $1.50 so we added a bag of chips for $0.75 to get back over $50 for the coupon.
So we grabbed $15 more stuff and used the $5 off $15 on that.
