No pre-orders working for me either (also would have wasted $4 on a coffee cup if coupon worked for it). I did order though:

Since B & N seems to have dropped the $5 off coupon in favor of the $8 off of $40 one, the prices are $1.20 or so more than they would be for $39.99 titles during the summer sale, but there are usually a few 15% or $5 off of $50 coupons around. If you didn't want to wait on Sweet Smell or Senso though, this would be cheaper than Amazon, but you have to spend $50 to get free shipping.

junglalian, that's quite strange - my cart right now definitely has no discount for pre-orders, and I've got every single pre-order in it. I also don't understand why the "ITEM TOTAL: $19.97 Promo code 'THANKS' applied" text doesn't appear next to either Solaris or Pale Flower on your screen.

The time on your screen capture says 8:34, perhaps it was a bug that they've fixed since? Someone on the Criterion Forum was able to place an order with all pre-orders at 50% off too.

Strange...I added all Pre-Orders in my cart and input the promo code...I got a message in red near the code box that says, "Sorry! This code does not apply to any items in your cart."
Yet, below it reads:

Guys, here's the key: Don't use Firefox, use Safari! My order went through fine like that. I noticed junglalien used IE, so I figured I'd try a different browser.

They also used to have a deal where if you bought a certain amount that you would get a free gift certificate. I cant remember the details. Maybe if you buy 500 dollars over time you get a 50 dollar certificate?

Re: Pre-order ordering...the trick that worked for me was having only pre-order titles in my cart and not using Firefox (I used Chrome).
I'm sure Criterion is simply going to cancel all these pre-order orders though, but it was worth a shot.
