I just got to the confirmation screen. After shipping and currency conversion it's showing $45.49 for me. I may hop on this if it's region free (and identical to the US release).

Agreed!! The packaging is quite bad!!

I waffled on getting the UK version vs. the US version. Finally went with the US version, because of the packaging. The UK version is the Quadrilogy Redux for accessing the discs. Hated that packaging when I got it (although it was impressive to open up the folds and spread out the discs on the floor at first).

Say for someone who does not really care about what the packaging is. The great extent as far as displaying is concerned will be the spine anyways, is the packaging THAT bad? We are not obvioulsy talking Back to the Future bad, is this more the fact that the US packaging is just better, and that it is just meh, but it serves it's purpose? Because if it is $40 now it is truly in my wheelhouse for sure.

You also dislike the packaging but ordered the UK release anyway? Personally, I would have just waited for the US release to go down in price rather than buy it now with this inferior packaging.

Ordered. I looked at some unboxing vids to compare the packaging. The US one is more convenient when it comes to getting to the disc you want fast, but it also uses cardboard sleeves to hold the discs, putting the discs in more danger, so there are pros and cons with both IMO.

I have had this set since day one and have not scratched any of the discs inspite watching them quite a bit taking them out of the sleeves in the us set.

I'm sure the sleeves are fine, I just prefer hubs. If the cheaper one were the US version the sleeves wouldn't deter me from getting it. Overall I'd say the US version is the better packaging, but neither is ideal for me and 30 dollars cheaper for slightly worse packaging is a trade off I'm more than willing to make.

I bought the UK version with its "inferior" packaging and haven't regretted it once. The content is the exact same -- how much time do people spend fiddling about with their cases, anyway? You know: as opposed to watching the movies.

This is a terrific price for one of the best Blu-ray releases to date. Maybe somebody could start a separate thread for case-bashing . . .

This is such a love-hate relationship. I would love to have this, but hate to buy another set this season. Arrggh. Ok, I am off to bowling and when I get home, if the price is the same (or lower), I will place my order as it is meant to be. If the price is up...then alas, twas not meant to be....

I totally agree with you on the first part, but (so far) the discussion about the two case types seems pretty civil to me. Not really bashing, so much.

Agreed, although the BF deal I got in on was only $16 more and included Last of the Mohicans on BD.

Didn't think I'd upgrade this but at under $40, it's worth it. Now time to sell my Alien Quadrilogy.
