As you can see I adjusted the phrasing in my previous response, -yes, a promotion was applied to the $19.99 price, though it doesn't say what it's for. Thanks to the original poster, by the way, - I hope this holds up, and I just wonder if the "promotion" works with any other title.

Did you add the Coinstar $10 code to your account? That counts as a promotional code... That's the only thing I can think of...

I just figured out what must have happened, -at least in my situation:

A few months back I bought a Roku box, and with it I recieved a $10 credit for Amazon Video On Demand. I was thinking about using it the other day and the credit had disappeared. I called Customer Service and they told me there was an expiration date on the credit that I wasn't aware of. I didn't gripe or complain but the CSR very kindly restored the credit, -this time with a something like a nine-year expiration.

You can guess what happened, -it turns out the CSR gave me a general credit for $10 and when I placed the order for "Let Me In", I activated that credit (I checked my video account and it doesn't show the $10). In my case, the "Let Me In" order was just a coincidence, though it did tip me to $10 that I can apply to anything, which is far more useful to me than a video credit. I'm sorry if I helped confuse anybody, but I'm glad to have the information.

I can say that neither of those things happened for me.

I did have a preorder for Let Me In from when it was a gold box ($1.20 off) that I cancelled and then immediately reordered for the lower $19.99 price... and for some bizarre reason, it gave me a $10 off promotional credit. No clue why. I'm not one to really email customer service and they only time I've ever gotten actual credits issued was for their huge preorder mix-ups with Dead Rising 2, but those credits are looong gone. So no clue. >_>

I actually had a $10 promotional credit applied yesterday when I purchased Arkham Asylum for PS3. I hadn't purchased a Roku, any digital media... Not sure why I got it either... But I'm not complaining...

There was a thread on it somewhere. They do this every year in December. When you redeem in $40 in cash coins for an Amazon cert in a Coinstar machine, they send you a bonus $10 Amazon promotional code.

I got a surprise $10 discount too on a different item. I think mine was from a promotion they had starting in November where if you purchased $75 or more worth of toys from a Holiday list with a MasterCard you'd get $10 off sometime after the promotion ended. I had recently called CS because I'd gotten no notification of that discount and they tried to tell me I wasn't eligible for it, but gave me a $10 credit to my CC anyways. I know 100% that I was eligible for it, so this may have been it.
