It won't work. Their prices are different for the brick and mortar locations. It is not like Best Buy. They will not price match their own website prices.

Re: Crazy box set deals at bn.com

I just got off the phone with customer service. As I suspected, these are indeed legitimate prices and are being directed by the publisher, i.e. Warner Home Video. Looks like an inventory liquidation to me. The CSR also said that there is still a possibility that some orders could be cancelled if they were oversold. The system will update tomorrow so keep your fingers crossed. If you missed The Batman Anthology or Austin Powers, I wouldn't be too worried. Between now and Black Friday you may be able to score similar deals elsewhere.

Thanks for the info. Picked up Gone With the Wind and the Eclipse Series 11: Larisa Shepitko set. Total came to around $26 dollars after tax (used Library Link).

Gee, and I was feeling good about getting the Batdude flicks for $30 from the WB store a few weeks ago. Then again, I was able to order and get those unlike now. Too bad. I want the That's Entertainment and Austin Powers sets. Snooze = Lose.

Now, I see you had a positive experience with calling them. But isn't the general rule of thumb to never call?

^"Geez, those prices aren't right. Thanks for bringing this to our attention." I never understand why people call.

Re: Crazy box set deals at bn.com

I'm pretty sure B&N Customer Service wouldn't know why these are being priced the way they are specifically either. That is, how would a customer service representative know if these are being priced to sell overstock from Warner Bros? I kind of doubt they would have any idea.

That said this definitely seems to be an early Black Friday online deal.

It's the adult version of, "Teacher, Timmy took two cookies. Can I have two cookies?" heheh.

There could be a "discontinued" or "liquidation" marker tacked onto the specific SKU/UPC, which would show up on a general item look-up in their system. They could then regurgitate stock info about the "special pricing" because of it. It wouldn't surprise me if WB's closing these out on the cheap, though, since most of the films have seen individual releases (and others are likely to come, like Austin Powers), and WB's pretty well-known for unloading their discs for cheap late in the game (Big Lots).

Just speculative brainstorming.

Well it did catch my eye that Amazon dropped the price on these a few days ago. B&N might have pulled the first punch but I'd keep an eye on Amazon prices on these titles the next few days.

I took the web print out for a couple of them to my local Ultimate electronics and had them price match Barnes and Noble in case it was a price mistake. worked like a charm

What other retailers would do this? I doubt BB would. or even B&N (I think somebody said they don't PM their website)

I know there was a MSRP drop on GWTW Scarlett Edition about 1 or 2 weeks ago. I think the MSRP dropped from $34.99 to $24.99, so this deal is about 50% off.

Got the Ninja Turtles for $17.49 shipped, and will get 8% CB from e bates and 5% back from my B&N MC, but I really wanted that Austin Powers set. I don't know how I missed this thread earlier!

I'd keep your eyes peeled, I missed out on the AP and it came back in stock a few hours later and I was able to nab one due to the awesome members in this thread pointing out that it was in stock again.

I am pretty sure the drop was for the regular edition, not the Scarlett.

Re: Crazy box set deals at bn.com

I only wanted an Austin powers

I ordered another for gift and a That's entertainment to put it over $25 for free shipping

First person who wants Austin powers or that's entertainment. I'd gladly help out and sell for actual cost + actual shipping

Or if you had Blu-ray to trade would be open to offers

Actually, it was a price drop on the Scarlett Edition, but I had the prices wrong. The original MSRP was $49.99 and the new one is $35.99.

Re: Crazy box set deals at bn.com

Some good prices but the only thing I really wanted from the list was GWTW. Managed to grab that last night through the library link to save an extra 10% since it's not a coupon friendly title. Also managed to get Austin Powers with a 15% coupon and 8% cashback even though I didn't want it that much. However couldn't resist the price.

Re: Crazy box set deals at bn.com

Well, I just spent $84. I got Bones Season 4 (BD) and Unit Season 4 BD for $17.50 each and other seasons of Unit and Bones on DVD for like $15 each.

Edit: Got my ship info. Expected ship date on everything is 12/13. I don't think I've ever been happy about an order delay before, but I'd rather it end up on next month's credit card bill than this month's. LOL

Don't even see Austin Powers in their search results anyway, although the product page is still there (I saved the link earlier).
