Amazon has matched the $19.99 price for HTTYD at Frys.com (where it is currently OOS).

Re: Lowest Prices for "How to Train Your Dragon" (Oct 15)?
I'm waiting for the 3D version.
|
^ I believe that HTTYD 3D is going to be exclusive to one of the 3D HDTV manufacturers. It may be awhile before it gets a general release.
Yes, Samsung: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/hd-talk/579...ay-demand.html |
Amazon has matched Best Buy's sale price:
How to Train Your Dragon (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Dragon Double Pack) $17.99 |
Re: Lowest Prices for "How to Train Your Dragon" (Oct 15)?
FYI, HTTYD is showing up in gold boxes for $17.09. I'll bet you can get that priced matched before shipping. I've done it once, where I bought something before I noticed it was in the gold box and they honored the difference.

I'm really tempted to get HTTYD but also hesitant since it could very likely get a better deal on BF or CM.

The BB price is good for November 21-24 so I'm guessing that Amazon's price will stay at $17.99 through the 24th. |

Edit: an attempt to place a second order ended up getting canceled, so it is limited to one order in 48 hours. This is the best deal I've seen for HTTYD thus far. As always, if you see a better deal, please post it. Edit: SOLD OUT |

Noooo!! :(
I was skeptical that there would be any screaming bargains for such a new release on Black Friday. Unlike Monsters and Aliens, HTTYD remains extremely popular and the BD is still selling well even at the high prices. |
Best price for HTTYD this week appears to be $19.99 at Target. Amazon hasn't matched it thus far.
Edit: Amazon has matched Target's price for How to Train Your Dragon (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Dragon Double Pack). |
Amazon has dropped the price for How to Train Your Dragon (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Dragon Double Pack) to $18.99.

I bought this movie for $26.99 last week (got it today). I just chatted with someone there about a refund on the $8 difference and they said they can't do that. I need to order a new copy now and send back the original order for refund. Is that common practice for Amazon? Seems like extra work and cost for them to get to the same result.

Amazon ended its price guarantee policy more than a year ago. Sometimes one can complain about a price change to Customer Service and they will make a deal, but that isn't the policy. You could try contacting them again and see if you get a more satisfying result with a different CSR. Or you could click on the follow-up e-mail link that one usually gets and say that it did not fix your problem. Those sometimes get better results. The tendency of Amazon prices to fluctuate wildly—check out the Amazon prices in the first post of this thread—is why the main Amazon deals thread is so closely monitored by many here. We've all been burned by buying a day, week, or month too soon and have seen prices drop on our purchases. All I can suggest is that you take your experience as a lesson learned and try to use this forum to find the best prices before purchasing Blu-ray Discs, especially at Amazon. Amazon can be great for careful bargain shoppers. For impulse buying, not so much. The rather high prices on HTTYD, compared to some other new releases, are why I made this thread. I wanted to try to dig up the best deals available for those unwilling to wait six months or a year for the usual price drops. The "problem" with HTTYD is that it has been one of the most popular DVD/BD releases of the year and it continues to sell so well that there is no incentive for the studio or retailers to lower prices to move unsold inventory. |
Re: Lowest Prices for "How to Train Your Dragon" (Oct 15)?
Thanks for the info lizard. Guess I will email them one more time then chalk it up to a lesson learned.
