For those in the Omaha, Des Moines and Kansas City area...I would bet Neb. Furniture Mart will offer this for $19.99 or less. The trend the last couple of Sunday fliers have a top release a the lowest price in town. Karate Kid is on sale for $15.97, so I would imagine HTTYD will be in that range too.

I'm thinking Ultimate Electronics will have it a little lower than BB- maybe 19.95 or 20.95. They've been coming in a couple dollars cheaper than BB on most of the major new releases, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks for compiling prices lizard, unfortunately they're all too pricey. I've been wanting to see this, I guess I wait a little longer.

$22.99 at Best Buy isn't too bad with a child's Megamind movie ticket included (probably $7.50 which is .50 shy of a matinee ticket here). Most theaters don't care if it says childs, just the $ amount toward whatever ticket you want.

I'm happy with my Amazon order. This is probably my favorite movie of the year, so it's a must buy for me :)

You were fortunate to get in on that price, it didn't last long. I have one with a $1.15 Gold Box discount, which helps some.

I'd be surprised if such a recent release became a Black Friday loss-leader next month, but I suppose it could happen.

Yes, it is easily my favorite movie of the year thus far—even though I don't usually care for kids' animated movies—and it is a rare BD I plan to get right away because I want to give one as a gift to a friend. The problem is that those Disney coupons have spoiled me when it comes to new releases of animated BDs.

$10 at both Amazon and Best Buy. So did Wolverine and a couple others which were new at the time.

Pretty sure that's on all copies. On the BD and as a 2nd disc on the DVD version.

Looks like Walmart may have another Iron Man 2 fiasco on their hands. The ad says $24.96 for the DVD version and $20 for BD. I'm guessing those are meant to be reversed. However, the DVD version is showing at $16.96 online and the BD is $22.96. Way to go, Walmart.

In looking at the ad, it seems possible that the $20 price isn't a mistake. There are three versions of "Dragon": single disc DVD, double disc DVD and BD/DVD combo. The ad shows a picture of the double disc Special Edition DVD with the price of $24.96 and then says "Blu-ray Disc, $20". It may be that the single disc version is even lower in price if Wal-mart will be selling it. It isn't that unusual for a BD to be cheaper than the SE DVD. Just guessing, of course.

FWIW, walmart.com has the single disc DVD for $16.96, the BD for $22.96 and the SE DVD for $24.86.

Be aware that this ad is only good through Saturday October 16th!http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/3465/walmartad.jpg

This one?:
Legend of the BoneKnapper Dragon (1.78:1; 1080p/24; Dolby TrueHD 7.1; 0:16.33) — Hiccup and the gang go on a new adventure to track down a scary new dragon covered in bones. This animated short combines hand drawn and CGI animation for a fun new adventure from DreamWorks that nicely extends the world of How to Train Your Dragon.

Thanks for the info! It should really be advertised as a bonus short and not a bonus movie.

My local Wal-Mart ad (Northeast Ohio) for the week shows the 2 disc DVD as $24.96 and says below it "Blu-ray Disc, $20". Should be interesting what they will be selling it for on Friday.

Re: Lowest Prices for "How to Train Your Dragon" (Oct 15)?

It should be noted that release at Wal-Mart is just a 1-Disc Blu-Ray.

Much like with Nightmare on Elm Street and Splice, it doesn't have the DVD copy.

lizard 10-12-10 02:15 PM

^Yes, the single disc BD has now appeared on the website for $19.96 as well. Thanks for posting that.

Although the single disc BD listing at walmart.com lists the same extras that the BD/DVD set does, I can't be sure that the it does include all of them. However, it seems likely that it is just the same BD disc from the BD/DVD set.

I would guess that the best strategy would be to price-match at another store if one wants the BD and DVD set.

Since it is not pictured in the ad, but just simply listed one might get a PM. $20 at BBy with a movieticket and I might bite.

The year of it's release (a few months after actually) the Blu-ray version of Monsters VS. Aliens on Black Friday was close to $10. I'll wait for Black Friday too.

Went to Walmart this morning to check the in-store prices. Single disc blu-ray was $19.96, blu-ray/dvd combo pack was 26 bucks. picked up the combo pack at Target for 24.99, which included a coupon for a free 6-pack of popcorn.

I was going to give it a try by seeing if I could get Target or Hastings to match the Wal-mart ad price, but my Amazon pre-order shipped yesterday before I could get it canceled. It isn't worth the 70 mile trip to save a few dollars over the Amazon price anyway (and I had a gold box discount for one of the two copies I ordered).

$19.96 IS pretty high (as compared to Disney coupon deals); I was hoping for better. As others above have said above, HTTYD might go for much lower on Black Friday. I am skeptical, but would like to be wrong since I'd like to pick up another copy for a gift. Otherwise, it certainly will be much cheaper in six months or a year.

The prices seem normal for a new release, which are typically in the $22 - 25 range.

Well I got mine from BBE on DVD for free with code GT17A, watched it this morning then went to BBY and PMed WM for $20 and then went to Target and PMed WM again so I can return and rebuy if it drops below 20 within 90 days.
