My local Wal-Mart ad (Northeast Ohio) for the week shows the 2 disc DVD as $24.96 and says below it "Blu-ray Disc, $20". Should be interesting what they will be selling it for on Friday.

It should be noted that release at Wal-Mart is just a 1-Disc Blu-Ray.

Much like with Nightmare on Elm Street and Splice, it doesn't have the DVD copy.

lizard 10-12-10 02:15 PM

^Yes, the single disc BD has now appeared on the website for $19.96 as well. Thanks for posting that.

Although the single disc BD listing at walmart.com lists the same extras that the BD/DVD set does, I can't be sure that the it does include all of them. However, it seems likely that it is just the same BD disc from the BD/DVD set.

I would guess that the best strategy would be to price-match at another store if one wants the BD and DVD set.

Since it is not pictured in the ad, but just simply listed one might get a PM. $20 at BBy with a movieticket and I might bite.

The year of it's release (a few months after actually) the Blu-ray version of Monsters VS. Aliens on Black Friday was close to $10. I'll wait for Black Friday too.

Went to Walmart this morning to check the in-store prices. Single disc blu-ray was $19.96, blu-ray/dvd combo pack was 26 bucks. picked up the combo pack at Target for 24.99, which included a coupon for a free 6-pack of popcorn.

These prices seem pretty high. Anyone have any luck knocking down the price?

Like Yoda, my single-disc BD at Wal-Mart was $19.96.

I was going to give it a try by seeing if I could get Target or Hastings to match the Wal-mart ad price, but my Amazon pre-order shipped yesterday before I could get it canceled. It isn't worth the 70 mile trip to save a few dollars over the Amazon price anyway (and I had a gold box discount for one of the two copies I ordered).

$19.96 IS pretty high (as compared to Disney coupon deals); I was hoping for better. As others above have said above, HTTYD might go for much lower on Black Friday. I am skeptical, but would like to be wrong since I'd like to pick up another copy for a gift. Otherwise, it certainly will be much cheaper in six months or a year.

The prices seem normal for a new release, which are typically in the $22 - 25 range.

I got mine this morning for $1.50 on BD from redbox... but I have to take it back tomorrow. ;)

Well I got mine from BBE on DVD for free with code GT17A, watched it this morning then went to BBY and PMed WM for $20 and then went to Target and PMed WM again so I can return and rebuy if it drops below 20 within 90 days.

I was pleased to see I can now reserve BD online and just have to pick them up. For $1.50, you can't beat it. I did like it so will end up buying eventually but for a much lower price.

You can't tell from the copies in the store as the single disc BR doesn't list any extras or features at all, unlike the BR + DVD package.

Does anyone know for a fact that the single disc BR contains the same features as the BR + DVD 2 disc package?

I would have bought a copy today had I known that it contained the extra short feature and extras, but without knowing for certain, it was a no sale.

I just popped in the single-disc BD, and I see a video jukebox, a couple of featurettes, a commentary, the picture-in-picture track, and a subtitle trivia track...no short, and it looks like several of the other extras from the 2-disc set are missing as well. Unless there's a "more" option I'm overlooking, anyway...

That's a huge disappointment. I saved a dollar and change vs. buying from Amazon and missed out on a ton of extras.

I got a clueless clerk to mark down the $26 price on the BD/DVD set to $20 by showing her the ad.

lizard 11-13-10 10:47 AM

As posted by ces in the Bestbuy Blu-Ray Prices (November 21 - November 24) thread, HTTYD will be $17.99 at BB November 21-24.

That's the lowest price I've seen thus far. Whether prices will get lower for Black Friday is hard to say.

Unless Amazon has to say anything about it the answer to that would be no since ALL the main ads for Black Friday are now out on the web and no site of this title on any of them unless I totally missed it somehow. Only ad I am still waiting on is the Target ad for the week itself as there was mention that they would actually be selling stuff pre-Black Friday as well at great prices supposedly.

AFAIK WM's BF ad is still not out and I would be surprised if this will not show up at $15 or lower somewhere before Xmas.

Yeah I saw that list, but I also found out that my local WM got a big shipment of the BD in for BF I assume. Wonder what their price will be and if they even will have the combo pack.

I would think they would picture a title like this, because BFads juts posted the WalMart ad and I noticed an interesting aspect. They do have the DVD version of this movie listed on sale for $9. So, suffice it to say they might have it on sale that day but guessing for not a great deal($10 or less in my book for Black Friday).
