Going ahead with a pre-order now to take advantage of any sudden 1-day price drops and hope they beat any deals by release date.

I'm gonna hold off for now.... here's hoping for a sweet ass exclusive.

That is a lot of money to pay for 2 great movies and 2 mediocre movies. I haven't seen 3 or 4 for a really long time, so maybe rewatching them essentially 10-15 years later may change my initial opinion. If the price drops to around 60 bucks, I will buy it.

I wonder if they threw the 2 AvP movies in there as well

I'm holding off, hopefully it ends up like the old DVD set where it's $10 by x-mas.

This set is an offense to movie fans everywhere. Just the first few movies? You would think that they would include the AvP films as well.

Want this day one, but such a difficult time of year to shell out big bucks for Blus when it's so likely that in one month or two great deals are likely to be plentiful. But do I have the strength to wait AND there's no guarantee it will be discounted heavily. Honestly, if it's on sale by anything less than half (or very close) on black Friday, cyber Monday, or around Christmas than shelling out the $90 or so it will be when it releases is probably the better choice for me.

Is this post a joke or something? seriously first off there are only 4 alien movies and this set has all of them included, AVP is an entirely different series of 2 films and there is actually allready a AVP box set out there.

As a Joss Whedon fan, I love #4. It's not his best work, and not the best script, but it's got a lot of slimy Alien fun. But there's no way in heck I'm going to buy it for $100. I waited for the Matrix to drop under $30 used before I bit. Same deal here.

Also, someone mentioned "Alien Anthology will also be available in a Limited Edition Collector's Set featuring 'The Guardian' - an exclusive illuminated egg statue sculpted by Sideshow Collectibles" (Amazon.com comment).

personally I think not pre ordering it now is a mistake because Amazon is known for suddenly and without warning dropping a price substainally for a very short period of time then raising it back up or selling out just as suddenly. You can always cancel a preorder in the days before release if you end up finding a better deal.

That's why I preordered. Worse case is it's cheaper elsewhere, so I just cancel amazon.

I for one will be purchasing this set on day one. The original Alien film is my favorite movie and this is the most anticipate BD release for me.
Hopefully Borders has a 50% off coupon available and I can get it for $69.99.

Too rich for my blood... I have 0 interest in Resurrection but I love Alien 3 (one of the few apparently). Ideally, standalone releases would be great. That said, I'll probably bite on this at a lower price point down the road.

I'll wait on reviews though... Despite the assurances on the net that all is good with the Alien films. After the Predator DNR to hell fiasco, my faith in Fox is not solid.

I hope the final box doesn't have a big huge BLUE strip along the top. God, that irritates me. I know it's a Blu-ray Box, people. That's why I bought it.

Whoa. Aliens I felt was the best among the 4 but to each their own.

I'll wait on this set. I still have the Quad dvd set at home and have yet to crack it open since I got Alien and Aliens as standalones.

The egg thing is going to be made by Sideshow Collectibles, so I don't see why we wouldn't get something like that.
