I like it...it has good and bad moments, and while it is easily the "worst" of the series, it is still an entertaining film and one I will revisit again once the BD set is released....

I feel the same. It's a decent enough film, lots of entertaining moments and a few interesting ideas.

I think the original is so amazingly great, and the third so good, that people tend to crap on the 2nd and 4th films.

uh....Trevore..usually people stand by Alien and Aliens are great...3 and 4 is where ppl bitch and moan. In fact....Alien3 is where I hear a lot of it.

I have the Quadrilogy, but damn if I haven't been looking forward to Alien on BD for YEARS. It has been in my top 5 must be on Bluray along with Blade Runner, Days of Heaven, Star Wars, The Shining. Obviously, I already have 3 out of 5. Watching Alien on blu is going to be a Religious experience.

While Alien and Aliens are among my favorite movies and I'd love to have them on BD, I'm going to exercise patience remembering what happened with the Alien Quadrilogy DVD set. I'll assume that something similar should happen on the BD set. The DVD quadrilogy came out around $80 I think. I think within a year it was $45 at Costco and maybe Amazon, so I bought it (and opened it). Then some months later (after my Costco membership expired), Costco had it for $25. Then Amazon had it for $20.49. So, $80 -> $20 is roughly 25% of the initial price. So for the Alien set BD, 25% of $150 is $37.50... so my target price is $40 or less. My DVD Quadrilogy will tide me over 1-2 years until this happens. I'm not going to pounce too early this time and then regret it again.

suit yourself, but your going on a big maybe there. but look at compareablely priced and packed bluray sets from fox so far, about a year or two after release. such as planet of the apes, thus far the cheapest its gone is 49.99 and that was just a few months ago right now its back down to around 68.99 and the mel brooks collection got to around 49.99 for very short period. but most of the time those titles run for abour 79 to 99 dollars.

I can understand not buying it first day with all the other titles comming out in October/Nov but keep in mind waiting a year or more for the price to get down super low can back fire, enough people do that and the studios continue to get the idea that customers dont care to upgrade catalog titles no matter how big a title it is.

I can't imagine the final product would be different in Europe than it would be in North America, to keep costs down, but the latter looks like they just glued the upper body of a super-cheap plastic toy onto a super-cheap plastic egg. The European one actually looks like it would be made of sculpted resin, even though it's clearly concept art. I'd like the limited, but I would have to see it in person before I would actually bite.

The US one looks more like the eggs from the movie than the totally glowing ones. Either way, I'm passing. I've more or less gotten over over sized special edition cases that I have no room for. Especially when they cost around $50 more.

Why do people even assume that the price won't drop? Every DVD/Blu-ray out there always drops in price eventually. And the bigger they are, the greater the price drop usually is. In fact, it's the low-volume sellers which usually maintain their price point.

I love the Alien series, but I've seen the movies dozens of times - I can wait another year or two if I have to until the price becomes reasonable. And NO, $90 is not reasonable - even if they throw in some cheesy egg statue.

The first pic shows an Alien Warrior from Aliens, but the new pic shows an Alien from Alien. Does anyone know which one is the final one? I prefer the one from Alien.

I remember buying the "Alien Legacy" 4 pack from Playcentric.com in 2001 for only $68.50! Then I bought the Quadrilogy from Amazon for $20.49 in 2007 and sold my Legacy set for $21.31 on half.com. That made upgrading to Quadrilogy pretty much free. I would buy the blu ray set for $90 now, if I could be assured of selling my Quadrilogy set for the same price again.

A few days ago it was 10% off the $149.99 price and free shipping; now they changed it. Kind of sucks.

Yeah, I almost got it with the 10% but kept looking for a bigger discount. Now it won't work. That code DOES work for other items.

the local record/dvd/bluray store here in hollywood "Amoeba" still sells the DVD Quadrilogy for around 49 to 54 used, and a friend of mine took his in and was offer 22 cash for it.(pristine condition) so i would imagine you could very easily still get around 20 to 25 bucks for it assuming that its in pristine or very good condition perhaps even more if you put on one of the forums or craigslist or ebay. but i would also imagine the longer you wait and the closer it gets to the release date of the Aliean Anthology set the more likely it is that you will not get quite as much.

I'd like to back you up man, and say this is def. the way to go. Some people on here have been talking about waiting for the price to drop and with this deal I don't think that's the way to go. I, for one am going to be taking advantage of that. Hop on board, peeps. Amazon UK!! Dig it.

Only thing we don't know for certain is region coding, that's no problem here but may be for some.
