just joking on the movie comment

^ That's what I would try, with a better movie. And I wouldn't bring a price match into the equation. Making things complicated is never good.

OK, please don't kill me, but I went back for another set today...(I've got nephews and nieces).

I pre-ordered both combo packs for $5 each, and bought the PATF combo pack using the $10 and $5 coupons, and I also got the $15 and $5 promo deducted from my total.

Out the door for $9.99 + tax.

On the TRU Toy Story reservation/pre-buy card, there are 4 DVDs pictured, 2 for Toy Story 1, and 2 for Toy Story 2, one with yellow and the other with blue borders. What is the difference between the two, since both are combo packs with a Blu-ray disc and a DVD disc? Should I pick up the yellow, or the blue bordered packages?

You don't want the yellow-bordered ones, they are DVD only.

The ones on the left side of the card are the Blu-rays.

Re: Save $10.00 off Toy Story & Toy Story 2 Blu-rays when you upgrade from DVD or VHS

Sorry guys, read through a lot of this but wasn't quite clear on a few things. Here's what I would like to do:

Pre-order (in-store) Toy Story 1 and 2 at TRU, pick up Ponyo if they have it.

Aside from any coupon, like the $10 (which I present when I actually pick up Toy Story?), do I need any coupon/flyer to get the discount on Toy Story or the additional Disney movie?

Took the advice of most people here and pre-ordered TS 1&2 today, and picked up PATF for $4.99 after the $20 pre-order discount and $10 Disney coupon. They also tossed in a free PATF jewelry box (Retail value: $7.99. Actual value: $.50 8^)

So you're positive there is only the one $15 discount on your receipt? Their receipts are sort of funky, and it might not be spelled out as you expect it to be.
I don't have the receipt by me, but the movie I got had a sticker price of $25. My total with pre-orders was $20 & change ($10 + $5 + $5). Just looked at the charge on my card. Unless the movie was actually $30 and had the wrong price on it, I have the check.

Other people are reporting it as still $20 today, but there could be several reasons for your difference. The reason you mention, or they could have typed in the pre-order wrong or an extra one, or your specific title is programmed differently. Who knows. But it appears to still be $20. I plan to try it again tonight, my co-worker wants TS copies.

Re: Save $10.00 off Toy Story & Toy Story 2 Blu-rays when you upgrade from DVD or VHS

For me today:

PATF 34.99
-15 TRU promo
-5 Disney promo
-10 PATF Blu-ray combo coupon
-5 PATF Blu-ray coupon

= FREE (+ tax)

Problem is, I didn't think to use the $5 off Toy Story coupons today on my pre-order, so not sure how I'll use both the $10 and $5 off tomorrow. I probably screwed myself there, but still $15 or so after tax for all 3 Blu-rays is killer.

Are you sure? The bottom (Yellow) border says "Combo Pack includes DVD + Blu-ray".

The Blue bordered one says "Combo Pack includes Blu-ray + DVD".

Not they both contain a DVD and a Blu Ray. The only difference is the box. Blu is Blu Ray box, Yellow is a DVD box.

Similar to what they did when Snow White was released.

When you go to pre-order, pick-up the pre-order card which is on their DVD end cap. You'll need this, and the receipt to pick up your movies.

There are three coupons floating around for each movie. See post #1 here for the $10 coupon. Using this will leave you in "positive" territory, owing about $4 total when you go to pick-up your movies. If you are more aggressive, you should read through this thread (and others) for multiple coupon strategies.

I don't think they allow coupons to be used on the pre-order. And I am almost positive that they would not have given you your item, pre-orders, and cash back.

Just use all 4 coupons tomorrow, and add filler to get it above zero.

Also, the text between the box images and the UPC codes say "Blu Ray" or "DVD".

On a side note, I got -$20 when preordering today and adding A Bug's Life.

Okay, so if we're not going to TRU, and if we don't plan on fighting with Target tomorrow, the best deal is still to do Target and the $5 off coupons (any that exist in paper format) at Target for $25.98, right?

Sorry, I get dizzy looking through these threads....

Actually, Blue and Yellow contain DVD + Blu-Ray... the Blue is a Blu-Ray with DVD and the Yellow is a DVD with a Blu-Ray... which for the most part will defind the type of package.. a DVD package or a Blu-Ray package...

Print out the $10 off each coupons linked in the first post of this thread, if you will only be using one coupon for each title (Target). See Post #12 in this thread for UPC codes.

You are correct. As was pointed out, the Snow White release was similar to this. As I recall, once that sale was over, the Blu-ray combo pack was more expensive than the DVD combo pack, despite having the exact same contents.

Thank you so much for clarifying, and to everyone else, too.

I didn't know there was a difference with Snow White, because I purchased that from Amazon, and they sent me the Blu-ray box.

Re: Save $10.00 off Toy Story & Toy Story 2 Blu-rays when you upgrade from DVD or VHS

I took Trevor's advice and pre-ordered TS1 and TS2 at Toys R Us and got $20 credit which I used to get BOLT on blu-ray. Lets hope is a good movie now, sucks they didn't have "A Bugs Life" or "PATF" but still is a hella of a deal

Then I went to Half-Price next door and used my 40% coupon to get The Godfather Blu-Ray Coppola Restoration for $37.00
