I sold a 52 hd-dvd lot on ebay recently and figured I would sell it for just over $100 (about $2 each.) Thankfully, there was significant interest and I ended up selling the lot for just over $300 (about $6 each.)

The only one I have on HD DVD is King Kong, and I have a few of them on SD. I don't see anything too thrilling. Even considering these are from one studio, it's a very short list. Like why wouldn't they have Serenity on the list?

Aaargh! Slickdealers beat me to FYE with their truckloads of Van Helsing BR trade-ins by 1 day! When I looked yesterday at Wherehouse.com it still said $6 cash trade-in, but when I went there in the evening after work... $2. I only got my package on Thursday, and apparently most SD'ers (who ordered loads of Van Helsing and King Kong BRs to trade in whereas I only ordered 1 extra Van Helsing to make the minimum of 3) went to FYE early on Friday while I was stuck at work from dawn to dusk. Today Wherehouse.com is reporting the $2 price for Van Helsing (it lags by 1 day). So Van Helsing went from $6 to $2 and King Kong from $5 to $3.

Thankfully there is the $5 candy coupon inside of each which helps alleviate the fact I paid $6 for an extra Van Helsing... even though the candy I get with this coupon ends up going to other people (since I don't eat candy).

So is there any place left where I could easily get $5 for the Van Helsing BR or is everywhere hopelessfully flooded? I'd give it to family as a gift but none of them have BR players. Guess I'll have to remember that I can NEVER count on trading anything in for a decent price when there's a sale because the SD slimers will beat me EVERY time guaranteed.

Candy Coupon Pro Tip!

Buy your candy with other stuff and the difference from the coupon will be taken off everything else. For example, if you buy a cheap candy bar with a BD, the $0.50 or $1 for the candy bar will taken off, plus you'll get the $4.50 or $4 off the BD to make up for the rest of the $5.

Well if you don't have an ethical problem with doing it, Wal*Mart and Target both offer gift cards for receiptless returns. Obviously you wouldn't be able to use the $5 candy cash coupon.

Receiptless returns are out because I already opened my extra Van Helsing since I didn't know FYE/Wherehouse.com had a 1 day lag time on prices and at the time I thought I was pretty safe getting the $6 cash from them. Now I know better for the future where I'll never again assume I can get anything worthwhile in trade-in credit from FYE regardless what Wherehouse.com says.

I already used 1 $5 off candy coupon at Walmart, and the cashier read the coupon and manually entered $5 off since the item is over $5. I have a feeling (at least at Walmart) that Brent L's suggestion won't work because they'd manually entere a lower coupon amount if the candy is under $5.

I used my Candy Cash at Wal-Mart with minor issues. They just called over a CSR rep and then processed the candy cash same as a paper check (run it through their machine). They are supposed to process it like a travelers check as per instructions. I only bought $1 worth of candy and got $5 off my total purchase.

I have 2 more to use so hopefully I won't run into any issues. I have a feeling the more stuff you buy the less likely they are to question how much candy you bought.
