Are you talking about the $10 2-packs or the 3 $8 BDs I mentioned having a $25 sign at your store? I'd always suggest scanning them if you've heard they may be cheaper because it's common to see stuff in the wrong places. It's hard to believe they'd have these BDs for $25... that's mainly the price for new release BDs of recent movies.

re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

High def disc news has posted the Blu ray page from the Walmart Black Friday flier. I can't post it here, but it boasts 60 Blu ray movies will be available for 5 dollars a piece and 30 Blu ray movies will be available for 10 dollars a piece.

Some of the titles are shown, most are not.

Went by today to pick up a couple things and they had a big display with 8 and 10 dollar blu rays. Snagged Zack and Miri, Major League, and Ferris Beuller for 8 each.

Looking at the Wal-Mart Black Friday ad it shows the Video Games going on sale at 12:01 A.M. Friday. Is that also when the movies go on sale? That would be awesome because the real crazies are there for the electronics and if I could beat all that to pick up my round of movies i'm definitely down for that.

Doesn't WM usually shut down before the BF kick-off?

They usually do shut down. I wonder how thats going to work with the games. The games and movies are on the same page so I would assume the movies are go on sale at 12:01.

Maybe online? I don't know, I wouldn't count on them being open at 12:01. Either way, Amazon will most likely match everything WM has, so just sleep in

Yeah I know but they only list a fraction of what they are claiming to offer so like someone said i'm not sure if Amazon will price match the titles not listed.

I'm quite shocked that Walmart is allowing ads to be posted this year, but then I noticed Slickdeals has the ad scans as well and I haven't noticed any being taken down, so perhaps retailers are becoming more tolerant than they've been in previous years where certain stores sicked their lawyers on sites that had the ads too early so you had to be fast to see the ad scans.

I'll admit the Walmart BF ad is by far the best of the ones I've seen and once again I'll be going there first to stand by the appropriate display for when it's unwrapped at 5 AM. The majority of the really cheap BDs, DVDs, and games I already have of course, but there are a few I want listed and who knows what will be in the rest of the (unlisted) batch.

There are lots of 24 hour Walmarts, and mine has remained open every BF morning I can remember. They just wrap the stuff up in cellophane and have security standing nearby to rip you to shreds if you try to open one. Now I would like to know about some stuff going on sale at 12:01 because I'd probably make 2 trips then... 1 to buy stuff at midnight and another before the displays are unwrapped.

If anyone has more info on some items going on sale at 12:01 am, please post.

I guess this ad means I'm getting up early and going to Walmart this Black Friday.

The local ones not already open are requesting permission to be open 24 hours on BF to prevent the stampedes of a few years ago

Good luck. They put all the 'good' ones in the ad, the rest will be MGM/Fox/Lionsgates crap. Not going to bother getting up early to wait outside with a bunch of welfare people. It's the lowest of low at Wal-Mart down here. BF will be on Amazon.com only. Period.

re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

If you look at the bottom of the first page it says

- Pages 1-8: 5 to 11 am savings on select electronics
- Pages 9-23: Midnight specials all day Friday
- Back page: Saturday-only deals

All of the Blu-rays and DVDs are on page 10. (Video games are all on page 9.)

I've got a WM five minutes from my house, so I'm going to head over at midnight and check it out. If it's too crazy I'll leave and hope Amazon matches the price of all 60 $5 titles.

http://money.cnn.com/2010/11/13/news...riday_ad_2010/

A company spokesman confirmed that most Wal-Mart stores will open at midnight that day.

"Customers can avoid standing in the cold waiting for stores to open and get an early jump on the season's best savings," he said. The early sales will focus in items like toys, pajamas, and small kitchen appliances, with the electronics and HDTV deals kicking in at 5 a.m., he said.
Based on the leaked ad, apparently video games and movies are among the items that will be available starting at midnight.

That's not going to happen, I can see them PMing the few that are in the actual AD but the others won't be on amazon.

re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I have no reason to doubt you, I had just seen someone over at the blu-ray.com forums say that last year Amazon had matched most of the in-store titles as well as the ones in the ads. I have no idea if that is true or not.

It was a cardboard display and the $25 sign was over the double disc blu rays. I saw Crank/Crank 2 but opted for Crank 2 2 disc for $8 instead since I already had Crank. I never scanned it. The display was a mess, so you are probably right it was in the wrong spot.

Then it looks like I'll be getting even less sleep (probably none at all Thursday night/Friday morning). I'll head over once at midnight and again at 5 AM. Fortunately my Walmart (as crappy as it is because it's an older store with a smaller inventory I believe) is a 2 minute drive from my house. It would be less but there are 2 stop signs and 1 light between me and it, and I rarely make that light. Normally that light has a 1 minute cycle time but I think late at night it's more like 2 minutes.

Talked to my boss last night and this is pretty much the gist of it. All the "big ticket" stuff is gonna start at 5 am, but all the rest should be available after midnight.
