LOST -- "Par Avion" -- 03.14.2007

Season 3, Episode 12 - "Par Avion"

Original Air Date: March 14th, 2007
Director: Paul Edwards
Written By: Jordan Rosenberg, Christina M. Kim

Spoiler:
A Claire-centric Episode

"When Claire has a plan that can get everyone rescued, Charlie starts to exhibit strange behavior. Meanwhile, on their mission to rescue Jack, tension ensues between Locke and Sayid."
WARNING: MAJOR Spoiler ahead!!!
Spoiler:
John Terry (Christian Shepherd) is slated to guest star in this episode

In the spirit of Rogue588’s list of quotes a couple weeks ago, here are some from Last week’s LOST thread:

Hubcap is “really about to bail out on this show”
RichC2 will roundhouse kick the next person that gets him Iced tea.
HE Pennypacker on Enter 77 – “one of the GREATEST episodes of Lost evAr.”
Achau9598 – “Lost can still be captivating and move the story along”
Maxfisher just doesn’t care about it anymore and doesn’t see himself buying the DVD
lotsofdvds insists that “everyone on this island is retarded”
Groucho – “In honor of the death of Mrs. Clue, I ceremoniously shot my Clue Notebook after watching [Enter 77].”
OldDude, Robertwoj and a few others spent the majority of 4-5 pages of posts discussing chess.
mrpayroll – “Locke has become the most worthless character on this show … [Sawyer]’s character has also become a joke this season.”. Also thinks backstories have become just filler.
nateman241 is willing to bet that “by the end of the season only 10 million people will be watching the show”
porieux is of the opinion that “Lost is one of the only things worth watching on TV at all, period”. The viewers that have dropped the show “are not worhy”
Mercury&Solace had a fine bitch & moan, stating how sick and frustrated they were about this “mostly garbage of a season” that kept “dragging shit out”
… but, hold the phones, don’t get them wrong … They still love the show!
vegasbaby is utterly convinced that “next season will be [Lost]’s last”.

The flashbacks sucked and there weren't enough answers.

You realize it's all your fault, right? The clue notebook was the one thing holding this show together...now all is lost.

From Ask Ausiello of TV Guide:

Question: Are Paolo and Nikki ever going to do anything besides make cameo appearances in group outings on Lost?— Kelly Hanlon

Spoiler:
Ausiello: Unfortunately, we're going to see a lot more of the dead weights on March 28 when they get their very own flashback episode. I know what you're thinking: Who wants to watch an entire episode devoted to those losers? I certainly didn't, until I found out who else was going to be in the episode: Shannon, Boone, Ethan and Mr. Artz! Plus, there's apparently a twist so shocking, watercoolers won't just be buzzing the next morning, they'll be exploding. (Please, God, let it be a double murder.)

He was actually on GMA last week and mentioned that.

I'll be tuning in, but I'm really starting to feel like the sap who sticks with someone that treats them like shit, just hoping that things go back to the way they were in the beginning of the relationship. At least it's only an hour a week of my life.

You'd really, really hope so. I was one of the ones that was willing to give them a chance after their unceremonious introduction in "Further Instructions"... but lately they've been starting to grate on my nerves. Not Nikki so much as Paolo ... as least she's something to look at.

They set themselves up for disapointment by answering questions in this way. People will be so hyped up that it won't live up to expectations.

You and me both friend! After watching the last episode of Heroes, I began to seriously wonder why I bother with Lost anymore.

By the way, things NEVER go back to how they were.

I'm nowhere near giving up on Lost. But I am starting to feel a Smallville vibe out of it. I gave up on that one after 5 seasons. You need more than just awesome premieres and finales. Lost has a long way to fall before it reaches that level.

Found this on a domestic violence website:

Believing or hoping they will change and we can help them. This is a biggie for many victims. It is the first big hurdle to overcome if a person is going to leave, and one of the biggest challenges for recognizing the need to stay away. In their heart, victims love the person they know the abuser can be. We want to help them, we see their struggle in life, and we want to fix the problem in the relationship and feel we are responsible to help. The person who becomes trapped in these relationships is kind hearted, giving, and empathetic.

When the victim leaves or after abuses while they stay, the abuser goes through sorrows, desperate pleas for forgiveness and endless promises to reform. What we fail to recognize is the extreme emotional and psychological problem these partners have. We are not qualified to help them. What we end up doing, although it's not what we intend, is enabling the abuser to be what they are. We believe we understand, can help or make a difference, and so we stay or go back. The truth is we become the enabler. We are the one who enables the abuser to be what they are, by accepting and attempting to forgive these abuses over and over. The victim is so deeply involved in the relationship and the desire to help the partner, that we cannot see we are perpetuating the problem. In reality, we reinforce the behavior. Recognizing the fact that we cannot change all this is the first step toward ending the relationship permanently.

The DVR can watch it for me. It will only be 45 minutes of my life, and at my convenience. Watching it has become a chore, but if I stop, they'll have a great episode.

Hence, why The Simpsons are still on the air. But I gave up on that heartless abuser a long time ago.

Your spoilers for tonight. Be warned.

Spoiler:

Episode 3.12: Par Avion (Claire-centric)
Airdate: March 14, 2007

* 03/05 - [Highlight if you want to be that spoiled... Claire and Jack are siblings] and we'll know it before they do. Source: Kristin on E!Online
* 02/28 - "It goes back to when Claire is 17," [Emilie] de Ravin says. "There's a big jump from where her life is now to where it was then. I play a completely different character because her life is so dramatically different - a lot of very deep emotional issues there that she's still dealing with on the island." De Ravin sports a black wig for this flashback to Claire's dark teenage phase. "You meet her parents and see what she's been dealing with," de Ravin says. A flashback last season led viewers to believe that Claire's father and Jack's father might be one and the same. True? "You'll see," she says with a grin. Source: USA Today
* 02/27 - Guest starring are John Terry as Christian Shephard, M.C. Gainey as Mr. Friendly/Tom, Mira Furlan as Danielle Rousseau, Andrew Divoff as Mikhail, Gabrielle Fitzpatrick as Lindsey, Julian Barnes as Dr. Woodruff, Rhett Biles as Officer Barnes, Danan Pere as ER doctor, Anne Elizabeth Logan as head nurse and John Medlen as man at crash site. Source: ABC
* 02/22 - Charlie exhibits peculiar behavior when Claire has an idea that could get everyone rescued; tensions mount between Sayid and Locke as they continue their journey to rescue Jack. Source: WCHS
* 02/13 - According to Emilie de Ravin, this season's Claire episode "goes back to when Claire was a lot, lot younger and in a very different place in her life." Source: Kristin on E!Online
* 02/12 - Cuse: [We will learn whether Claire is Jack’s half-sister] in the next six episodes. Source: Entertainment Weekly
* 12/07 - They are currently casting an Australian doctor and an Australian cop for episode 12, so it looks like that episode will have an Australia flashback. Source: Kristin on E!Online

And there's the big 'reveal'.

I'm more happy over the fact the writers got one over on everybody and Locke isn't the bumbling idiot they portrayed him as in the last episode. He has his reasons for staying on the island, i.e. to keep from being paralyzed.

At least its getting back to its adventure elements these past two episodes, Kate straddling anything makes for good entertainment.

The quality still isn't as high as it used to be, but at least it's trying.

Now lets see Jack's dad being everybody's father. That'll be the key connection, they're all related.

Edit: Desmond needs to just hold a damn town meeting.
