yea, the crashes were definitely the most appealing part of that game, for me at least. I wish they would adopt those same kind of physics/realism in the sim type racers I am into

I rented burnout and didn't enjoy it at all. As for EA, I am through with them. Every move that company makes is horrible. For me, I say make them and their partners suffer. I hate their servers, I hate their agreement with the NFL and I hate the way they think they are the best software company. The NFL2K games were so much better than Madden and when they released the new game way cheaper than Madden, that's when EA bought the rights to the NFL. As much as I love football, the NFL and EA can go to hell cause I will never buy a Madden game.
When I first got the 360 I had to get FNR3 but I will probably never buy another EA game again.

I have a problem with not having a way to backup the stuff that I've paid for and instead have to rely on the accuracy of Microsoft's records of what I've paid for. Add-ons or XBLA titles... it's all the same.

they're basically trying to jump on the Itunes band wagon, since that was so successful. I think it is the wrong direction for games and gamers alike. I would like for more people to boycott them, regardless of what is included, but it doesn't exactly affect me, since Im not into that

This game sounds pretty fun. Kinda like Oblivion, but with a few changes. They even mentioned multiplayer.

Anyone up for another 100+ hour game any time soon? I know I am still trying to finish off the main story line in Oblivion myself, but this game sounds kinda cool.

yeah me too. It took me a long time to dump all the crap music and although I liked some of the videos, I eventually got rid of them too. Also, since manythings stay on the marketplace seemingly forever, I just delete game demos and vids as soon as I view/play them. I figure I could always Dl them again and if they're gone from the marketplace then so be it.

I gave the demo a run for a few minutes and thought it was pretty cool. The city, at least for the demo, seems kinda bland though. Also I don't think I did metropolis any favors by turning evil on them, tossing every car you see is probably frowned upon.

IMO, the Burnout series is the best racing series out there that isn't Wipeout (Namely XL, since the others kinda suck). It's a outright blast, and I agree, realistic racers do nothing for me. That said, Burnout Revenge was a step back, but still a great deal of fun. I also don't own any EA games outside of BO:R at the moment, and don't mind keeping it that way. Not big on sport games.

I think this "beta test" aka demo, is nothing more than a way to get the word out for those that are only on silver. Anyone who wants to test drive Halo 3 will need to pony up and they are giving people plenty of notice. Smart idea, but a lame announcement overall since it is six months out.
Hmm... I don't know about THE best because there are a few non-traditional racing games that are excellent in their own right. A few other franchises that come to mind: F-Zero, Mario Kart & Waverace. Burnout is definitely "One of" the best though.

Halo 3 Demo Planned For Spring 2007
Microsoft owned developer Bungie has revealed new details on next year's release of Halo 3, to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the launch of Halo: Combat Evolved on the original Xbox, with news of a public online beta and other promotions.
The multiplayer public beta, which is described as a pre-release version of the multiplayer portion of Halo 3, is scheduled for release in spring 2007. Although not stated, it is implied that the game will be an Xbox Live Marketplace download, although no indication was given as to whether it would be made available for free.
Also scheduled for next spring is a series of new multiplayer maps for original Xbox title Halo 2. The maps will be exclusive to the Xbox 360, where the game continues to be the most popular online title more than a year after the launch of the next generation console.
No firm release date is available for Halo 3, with most analysts assuming a late 2007 launch. However, a new 60 second teaser trailer for the game will be show this year as a “one-time airing” on December 4, on ESPN’s Monday Night Football. The ad, created by advertising agency McCann Erickson, will also be available for download via Xbox Live Marketplace.
“The Halo Nation has a nearly insatiable desire,” said Jeff Bell, corporate vice president of global marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft Corp. “We hope a taste of advance Halo 3 gameplay satisfies some of their appetite as we count down to the game’s launch later in 2007.”

Merrill Lynch: Xbox 360 To Win Next-Gen Battle Through 2011
A new report from Japanese market analysts at financial firm Merrill Lynch has predicted that Microsoft's Xbox 360 will gain the greatest worldwide market share of the next-gen consoles through 2011, with PS3 and Wii marginally trailing.

According to an International Business Times report citing Yoshiyuki Kinoshita, research analyst for Merrill Lynch, the Tokyo-based division for the financial giant has predicted: "The winner in the next-generation console battle is likely to be the Xbox 360, which is the leader in North America, the world’s biggest market."
In addition, Kinoshita's research note revealed: "We forecast respective market shares [in March 2011] of Xbox 360 [at] 39 percent, PS3 [at] 34 percent and Wii [at] 27 percent, thus overturning Sony’s domination of the market with its PS2-based share of 69 percent, and doubling Microsoft and Nintendo’s respective market shares."
Kinoshita clearly believes that no one company will dominate all territories however, suggesting that Sony will still have 57% of the console market share in Japan by that date, with Nintendo's Wii at 39% and an unspecified small percentage for the Xbox 360.
However, it is his prediction for the North America market that is most startling and perhaps debatable, with his suggestion Microsoft will have 50% market share by 2011, of while the PlayStation 3 has just 27% and the Nintendo Wii 23%.

I see that as possible. I don't think the PS3 will "fail" but they stand to lose the most market share. The 360's early launch helped it (like the PS2), not hurt it (like the Dreamcast). By the time the A-list PS3 games come out next fall, the 360's library is going to be immense.
I definitely see Sony's share going below 50% although I'd be surprised if it went below 35%.
