“MACROSS PLUS MOVIE EDITION” Brings Pulse-Pounding Animated Mecha Combat to U.S. Cinemas

Fathom Events and BIGWEST Bring Cult Classic Anime to U.S. Screens for the First Time on December 14

Denver - November 15, 2021- Upon its initial release in 1994, “MACROSS PLUS” became a cult sensation paving the way for some of anime’s greatest hits and the creators behind them. The ground-breaking, 4-episode Original Video Animation (OVA) struck a chord with audiences worldwide with its blazingly fast dogfighting in detail that had never been seen in anime before. On December 14, “MACROSS” finally comes to U.S. cinemas with, “MACROSS PLUS MOVIE EDITION,” which adds all-new animated scenes never seen in the OVA, streamlines the storyline, and creates a more focused and action-packed viewing experience. In addition to the feature, attendees will view an exclusive special interview with creator/chief director Shoji Kawamori (“Macross,” “Aquarion,” “Escaflowne”).

Combining the intricate designs of Shoji Kawamori, character direction from Shinichiro Watanabe (“Cowboy Bebop”), and the musical stylings of renown composer Yoko Kanno (“Cowboy Bebop,” “Ghost in The Shell: SAC”), “MACROSS PLUS MOVIE EDITION” takes place in the year 2040 A.D., three decades after the glassing of Earth in what has since become known as Space War One. On the colonial planet of Eden, U.N. SPACY is testing transformable variable fighters to counter further alien attacks. Two prototype aircraft piloted by former childhood friends, loose cannon Isamu and the Zentradi mixed alien race Guld, go head-to-head in aerial and robot combat superiority over a lucrative military contract, and the affections of mutual love interest Myung.

Ascendent Animation Announces an English Dub of Fire in his Fingertips: My Childhood Friend is a Fireman and Fire in His Fingertips 2: My Boyfriend is a Fireman

LOS ANGELES, CA - DECEMBER 2021 - Ascendent Animation is proud to announce their newest acquisition of, “Fire in his Fingertips: My Childhood Friend is a Fireman” and also, “Fire in his Fingertips 2: My Boyfriend is a Fireman”. Alongside these acquisitions, we are also proud to announce the production of an English dub. ‘Fire in his Fingertips’ (Season 1 and 2) will be their third (and fourth) English dubbing productions, respectively.

Fire in his Fingertips (Season 1 and 2) is being dubbed in partnership with Japanese companies WWWaveCorp and Suiseisha Inc. The show is based off of a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by the artist Tanishi Kawano. Originally serialized in the web manga magazine Screamo, it has continued its popularity in volumes crafted by Suiseisha, with digital distribution through Coolmic, and in North America on paperback through Ghost Ship. The story begins when the apartment of 24-year-old female office worker Ryo Fujihashi catches fire. Ryo is rescued by her childhood friend, womanizing firefighter Soma Mizuno. Will love's flame ignite?

The show follows a romantic (ecchi) storyline, featuring thematic elements, and a dramatic undertone. Each episode runs about seven minutes long and follows closely to the manga. Adapting the script is localization veteran, Kevin Frane (428 Shibuya Scramble, Quantum Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner), Michaela Laws (Seduce Me, Yandere Simulator), will be directing the English Dub, and Steve Warky Nunez (Sonic the Hedgehog, Venom 2), will helm the audio engineering and mixing. Also returning is K. Cornell Kellum (Vice Squad, The Titan's Bride), as Executive Producer.

When asked about directing this new show for Ascendent Animation, Director Michaela Laws stated, "I'm really excited to work on Fire in his Fingertips, as this genre of anime is both a familiar world to me and one that is finally flourishing beyond just manga and novels that you hide against your chest. This series is a story you may feel familiar with or may fantasize about and that is the beauty of it. We are growing to be more open to ideas of sex and love while the world of anime continues to open its doors to more stories. Alongside these acquisitions, we are also proud to announce the production of an English dub. ‘Everything for Demon King Evelogia’ will be our fifth English dubbing production.

Everything for Demon King Evelogia is being dubbed in partnership with Japanese companies WWWave Corp. and Suiseisha Inc. The show is based off of a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by the artist Io Kaziwara. Originally serialized in the web manga magazine, BL Screamo, it has continued its popularity in volumes crafted by Suiseisha, with digital distribution in English on the North American site, Coolmic.

The plot entails an aimless young man named Toshiaki Gozu. He is killed and then resurrected as an NPC in a video game world that he enjoyed playing when he was a kid. Gozu meets up with the Demon King, “Eve” (Evelogia), the game's last boss whom Gozu has admired since then. Gozu dreams of being together with Evelogia, and tries to romance him. Once together, Gozu then aims to conquer the world so that he can be together with Eve.

The show follows a romantic (BL) storyline, featuring thematic elements, and a dramatic undertone. Each episode runs about seven minutes long. Kiba Walker (Titan's Bride, Horimiya), will be directing and adapting the English version. Steve Warky Nunez (Ishida and Asakura, Ant-Man), will helm the audio engineering/mixing, and Localization Supervisor will be Kevin Frane (428 Shibuya Scramble, Resonance of Fate). Once more, K. Cornell Kellum (Vice Squad, The Titan's Bride), will return as the Executive Producer.

When asked about the show, Walker said, “Directing this anime (Evelogia), is going to be a fun challenge and honor, as this is a title that I know is precious to a lot in the BL community. I can't wait for everyone to watch the English dub! Thank you to our partners in Japan for trusting Ascendent Animation with this task!”

Sentai Acquires “Ingress: The Animation” Sci-Fi Spin-off Series

HOUSTON, TX — December 14, 2021 — Sentai announced today that it acquired Ingress: The Animation, the sci-fi anime series inspired by the wildly popular augmented reality game of the same name that has been played in more than 200 countries and regions in the world. Sentai will distribute the series to audiences in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands and Nordic countries.

Special Investigator Makoto Midorikawa possesses the unusual ability to unlock and perceive the memories of any object with a single touch. While investigating an explosion at a laboratory, his powers put him in the crosshairs of an international conspiracy centered around Exotic Matter (XM), a mysterious substance that could rewrite the fabric of human destiny. Caught between the Resistance and the Enlightened, rival factions hellbent on exploiting XM to twist civilization to their whim, Makoto must use his abilities to unlock the secrets of XM and save humanity.

Ingress: The Animation is directed by Yuhei Sakuragi (The Relative Worlds, Japan Anima(tor)'s Exhibition, Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo) with character design from Takeshi Honda (Den-noh Coil, Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion, Millennium Actress). The series’ opening and ending tracks, “Tessellate” and “In Cold Blood,” are performed by Grammy-nominated British indie band alt-J. The series is based on the Ingress mobile game produced by Niantic, the Google-incubated startup that also produced Pokémon Go.
The series stars Reina Ueda (Demon Slayer, Darwin’s Game, Tokyo Ghoul) as Sarah Coppola, Shigeo Kiyama (Sakurada Reset, Gintama, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin) as Jack Norman, Yoshiki Nakajima (Plunderer, Hinamatsuri, Haikyuu!!: To the Top) as Makoto Midorikawa, Megumi Ogata (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Sailor Moon, Yu Yu Hakusho) as ADA and Tarusuke Shingaki (Twittering Birds Never Fly - the clouds gather -, My Hero Academia, Noblesse) as Christopher Brandt.
