Re: Unreleased Licensed U.S. Anime Properties
I wish Funimation a LOT of luck trying to subtitle Jinsei. That show is extremely "wordy" and the subtitling could be quite a chore, to say the least.
It will be very interesting to see who will get the US license rights to Amagi Brilliant Park, though.

HOUSTON, March 6, 2015 — The invasion has begun as Sentai Filmworks announces its acquisition of North American, South American, UK, Australian, and New Zealand rights to the highly acclaimed series PARASYTE –the maxim-. Animated by MADHOUSE, directed by Kenichi Shimizu, and broadcasted by Nippon TV in Japan, this adaptation of the groundbreaking horror manga by Hitoshi Iwaaki is brought to life in the most gruesome way imaginable.
Unbeknownst to mankind the world is quietly being invaded. Alien beings known as “Parasytes” begin infiltrating humans one by one, burrowing into their brains to take complete control of both their bodies and their identities. With an insatiable hunger for human flesh these cold and calculating creatures mutate into grotesque monsters who feed on the unsuspecting when they’re not hiding behind the faces of everyday people. Only Shinichi Izumi, a lone high school boy, is aware of the terror lurking in plain sight. After one Parasyte’s attempt to take over his brain ends in failure, Shinichi’s right arm is instead possessed by this monster with a mind and an agenda all its own. As Shinichi and his unwanted cohabitant, “Migi,” struggle for dominance of his body, the alien infection continues to grow and so does the trail of bodies in its wake. Now Shinichi and Migi must become more than host and parasite if they hope to not only protect themselves, but Shinichi’s loved ones as well. As Shinichi and Migi’s symbiotic bond deepens, will Shinichi be able to hold on to his humanity, or will he evolve into something more than he ever imagined?

HOUSTON, March 18, 2015 – Sentai Filmworks is proud to announce its latest acquisition, Guardian Ninja Mamoru. From original creator Taro Achi and with animation production by Group TAC, this romantic comedy with a twist tells the story of a young ninja sworn to protect the life and virtues of a young girl who belongs to an ancient and noble family.
Looks can often be deceiving, and the phrase has never rang more true than with the case of Kagemori Mamoru. Behind the frail, hapless and definitely nerdy Kagemori’s thick glasses and unkempt hair lies a master in the ways of the ninja, he secretly watches over and is in service to his “neighbors”, the Konnyaku family, who have been under his family’s protection for the past 400 years! Yuuna, the young daughter of the Konnyaku family is Mamoru’s responsibility and has been since they were both in kindergarten. Luckily for Yuuna, whenever she finds herself in trouble, her secret savior is never too far away! The adventures never end as Mamoru goes from nerdy to ninja in Guardian Ninja Mamoru!
Guardian Ninja Mamoru will be available soon through select digital outlets with a home video release to follow.

HOUSTON, March 19, 2015 – Sentai Filmworks is proud to announce its latest acquisition, Windy Tales. An original series concept by Minami Otori with animation production by Production I.G., this stylized slice of life collection of stories delves into the lives of people with the power to control the wind, and the secrets behind the origins of their abilities.
It has been said that air becomes wind when it is agitated. As luck would have it, a small unassuming village in the Japanese countryside, known as the Village of the Wind, harbors a group of mysterious wind handlers who tempt fate. In this town, young Nao is an 8[SUP]th[/SUP] grader who discovers a cat high above where she normally shoots her digital camera. Nao is one of only two members of her school’s Digital Camera Club, and she already sees the world through a different lens than most. The other member of the club is Miki, Nao’s friend and photography aid, although she doesn’t seem too interested in the hobby herself. Now, the two friends, along with Jun who seems to follow them everywhere they go, find themselves searching outside of the Village of the Wind for the secret of how it all works. Will these children be the ones to discover the truth and understand the mystery of this powerful force? With the wind at their back, they are determined to grasp its meaning in WINDY TALES.

HOUSTON, March 20, 2015 – Sentai Filmworks is proud to announce its latest acquisition, Atelier Escha & Logy ~Alchemists of the Dusk Sky~. Adapted from the popular Japanese RPG “Atelier” video games series of the same name, this fantasy series is directed by Yoshiaki Iwasaki, with animation production by Studio Gokumi. A continuation from the previous entry into the “Atelier” games, this is the first game in the series to be adapted into an anime.
The arrival of the “Dusk End” is at hand, and for those people in the western reaches of the Land of Dusk, time is precious and running out all too quickly. As the finality of their situation becomes a reality and fear and anxiousness sets in, an ancient art once called “Alchemy” is rediscovered, and in order to survive the Dusk End, great effort is put to the task of recreating this technology and gathering their progress in Central, where research into stopping the advance toward the Dusk End is taking place. Having learned the latest teachings in Central, young Logy makes his way to the woefully understaffed town of Colset to make use of his knowlodge. There he meets Escha, the local apprentice girl in the Research and Development Department. Logy, a seasoned user of alchemy, is astonished by Escha’s radical use of technique in her own alchemic endeavors. Though they may not see eye to eye on certain things, they both know why they became alchemists: to help the people of their lands survive and advance. Together they will discover new alchemy techniques and bring the quiet town to life in the adventure of a lifetime: Atelier Escha & Logy ~Alchemists of the Dusk Sky~!

Musical merriment and cute creatures collide in this series from the dream team pairing Sanrio and Studio Bones (Ouran High School Host Club, Soul Eater)!
Set in the glamorous metropolis Tokyo Midi City, where music—and the dream of musical superstardom—is everything. Here, “battle of the bands” is more than just a teen rivalry: Dozens of ensembles compete for the honor of playing atop the city’s highest tower. When a Gothic Lolita-clad catgirl cutie named Cyan stumbles into the music world, she too is swept up by the dream of fame. After joining forces with three other colorful characters—bunnygirl honor student Chuchu, shy doggirl Retoree, and adorable sheepgirl Moa—the quartet becomes Plasmagica, the freshest band on the scene. Armed with special instruments, the girls face off with other bands striving for stardom, like the cool and passionate Visual Kei band Shingan Crimsonz, or the handsome pop idols Trichronika. Will the band find celebrity? Or are they doomed to be one-hit-wonders…

Ninja Slayer’s origin is shrouded in mystery; although it originally appeared as a novel series posted on Twitter in Japan, legend has it that it was actually translated from an original English series from two enigmatic American creators, Bradley Bond and Philip Ninj@ Morzez, who are totally on the run from actual ninjas. Who knows? All we can say is that with this origin story and this studio, Ninja Slayer is going to be way over-the-top and frickin’ awesome.
So we’ve told you what’s up with Ninja Slayer, but what’s it about? Here’s the summary:
From Kill la Kill’s radical Studio Trigger comes a badass and outrageous ninja anime that kicks reason to the curb with a screaming “WASSHOI!”
Ninjas. Karate. Sushi. The dystopian cyber underworld of Neo-Saitama is ruled from the shadows by an intricate web of drugs, yakuza gangs, and evil syndicate ninjas wielding fearsome “karate.” In a sea of the blood of his enemies, a lone maverick stands. NINJA SLAYER is a ninja who kills other ninjas in the name of ninja vengeance. A former salaryman whose family was killed by evil ninjas, Ninja Slayer cheats death and casts away his past to embrace the dark, mystical NINJA SOUL, a mysterious spirit that grants him great power in his quest for revenge. But will this bloodthirsty spirit consume Ninja Slayer before his enemies are all “dead on departure?” Domo. I’m Ninja Slayer.
And here’s your Japanese voice cast:
[...] (see actual blog post)
Simulcast launch date and time are still TBD, but stay tuned to FUNimation social media to be the first to know! In the meantime, here’s the trailer:

FUNimation Acquires the Rights for Ultimate Otaku Teacher and the Live Action Series Love:Redux
Posted by Michelle on 04/04/2015 at 2:30pm
Ultimate Otaku Teacher
When it comes to hardcore anime fans, some people prefer to hide their otaku “power level,” while others proudly wear their passion on their sleeves. Junichirou Kagami is definitely the latter in our new simulcast: Ultimate Otaku Teacher (Denpa Kyoushi)!
Ultimate Otaku Teacher is about an unusual young teacher who connects with his students, not unlike many other famous school anime like GTO, Gokusen, or our own Assassination Classroom, but this show is full of anime in-jokes and otaku culture that may be familiar to a lot of anime fans even in the West. If you like comedies like Genshiken, Oreimo, or The World God Only Knows, be sure to check this one out!
Ultimate Otaku Teacher will be simulcasting on FUNimation.com, with an eventual home video release.
The first episode of Ultimate Otaku Teacher will be available tonight at 10:30pm ET. The series will then stream regularly on Saturdays at 7am ET.
Here’s a little more about the show:
The studio behind Oreimo and Sword Art Online now brings you an ultimate otaku comedy!
Junichiro Kagami: scientific prodigy, groundbreaking physicist, published author…hopeless otaku. Once a promising young scientist, he’s since been rejected from the scientific community for his controversial research on anime-based teleportation. It’s like they always say: people fear the things they don’t understand. Now, a 24-year-old NEET with his science career behind him, Kagami finally has time to devote to the things that REALLY matter: updating his anime blog. But not everyone understands the dire importance of fandom. Even Kagami’s sister (his own blood and flesh!!) eventually gets fed up with his antics and forces him to take a job as a high school physics teacher. Dealing with “real-lifers” is a real drag, but soon Kagami finds himself strangely drawn to the conflicts of his pupils – and they to his…unorthodox teaching methods. In the world of high school drama, Kagami is armed with a potent knowledge of useless anime trivia, and an understanding of human problems derived from his on-screen friends. This otaku might just make the ultimate teacher!
