Treasure is developing two Wii games!

April 10, 2008 - With Ikaruga now available for Xbox Live Arcade, we're sure many are wondering what's next from Treasure, the developer behind that game and other classics like Radiant Silvergun and Gunstar Heroes.
CNET Japan got the answer in a recent interview with Treasure president Masato Maegawa. In the interview, Maegawa revealed that the studio is working on two titles for the Wii.
While he wouldn't get too specific, he did reveal that the two games are 3D titles, rather than the 2D for which the company is known. He also hinted that his team is putting the special features of the Wiimote to use.

Has there been a discussion on what other channels are coming?
I love the Wii but the lack of channels and news/rumors about new channels is making me wonder how committed Nintendo is to the whole idea. Yes, WiiWare will be great but what's next?
Where are the 3rd party channels?
Where is the DVD Channel?
CD/MP3 Channel?
Cable/TV/DVR channel?
WiiStore (my guess as to the name of an external drive) channel?
I believe that the lack of internal storage is what is really keeping 3rd party developers away. There is just not enough room.

FWIW, the IGN review for Okami states the while some of the control and frame-rate might be better on the PS2 version, they prefer it on the Wii because of:
- progressive scan
- 16:9 support
- better implementation of brush-stroke techniques with the Wii-mote
<embed src='http://videomedia.ign.com/ev/ev.swf' flashvars='object_ID=884970&downloadURL=http://wiimovies.ign.com/wii/video/article/865/865934/okami_vidreview_041108_flvlowwide.flv&allownetworking="all"' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' width='433' height='360' ></embed>
So basically the game's not at all compromised or ruined in any way. So anyone who has a Wii and hasn't played it, needs to.
I personally liked it far more than any of the 3-D Zelda games.
I do however miss the "paper-filter"...

I have seen where Nintendo has already announced a DVD version of the Wii but is holding back until supply meets current demand. The same goes for colors other than white. So the next Wii will have both DVD and color choices AND if they are smart more internal memory.
But shouldnt they release a USB-DVD drive add-on for first gen Wii consoles instead of forcing us all to go thru the headaches of supply/demand again?
Or are we going to have to wait another 18 months for supply to catch up to all get Wii2.0 at which time Wii3.0 is ready to hit the shelves?
Anyone else see casual/non-gamers (the core audience the Wii targets) giving up on this endless cycle? Why should they buy another Wii when they have a DVD player already and their current Wii works just fine?

The future of consoles is more than playing games. Its an all in one entertainment device. Games, internet, TV, DVR, DVD, music, streamed media etc. as well as communications (voice, text, chat, email)
The first company to get this right will dominate the future of entertainment.
In my opinion Wii is the first promising contender.

I would never use the Wii as my DVD player. There's much better choices out there for so cheap.

The odd thing is, how hard is it to include something like DVD playback on the Wii? Doesn't seem like it would be too difficult a feature to implement, and surely there are people out there that would make use of it. Can't see how it would be any more worthless then a weather or voting channel, but maybe that's just me
