D'oh. I completely overlooked FVJ. That should have definitely been included in this set, especially since it hasn't been released on 4K yet, includes the original Freddy.

I have a bootleg set of the 80s series and agree that would have been awesome to include. Many of the episodes include the world of Freddy and Freddy himself vs the Friday The 13th series which has zero to do with Crystal Lake.

I have a bootleg Blu-ray set of Freddy's Nightmares too, and it actually looks pretty good.

I enjoyed the series. It had Freddy's origins and a ton of not-yet-famous people in them. I guess people didn't care it was an anthology series with Freddy being the "crypt keeper."

4K steelbook unboxing. It’s a nice looking set. It’s an Amazon exclusive and currently not in stock.

Verified that the original New Line Cinema openings are restored on these (all but the first were "plastered" with the current TimeWarner version on the Blu-Ray set), but are the original mono and matrix stereo audio tracks also included? They got the DVD set nearly perfect in those regards, with the exception of it being regular DVD.

(Actually the opening of the 3rd movie looks a little strange, not sure what's up with that.)

Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street Collection > 10/2/12

after hearing that WB stated emphatically that there will no more LE Steelbooks produced, I quickly put in an order the UK version on Amazon UK. Looks like I got it just under the wire, as shortly afterwards Amazon stopped taking orders. I actually preferred the UK version as it includes both the 4k and bluray discs. It cost me $270, which includes - yes- $25 Trump Tariff Tax for ordering outside the US. The question is will Amazon really ship this, or will I get a "sorry- out of stock" item? Target Oct 27 shipment. We will see!

on a related note. I have always been extremely impressed by the guy behind blockbuster custom box sets for bluray/4ks. He has done some truly impressive boxes for major franchises. I was hoping that if I don't get the LE steelbook, that I would buy the SE and get a nicely designed custom box from him. Unfortunately, after doing these sets for years, he got a "cease and desist" order from WB and Disney. So that won't be happening.

I just saw that. That is crazy when you think people are paying $200 bucks for the same movies in 4K streaming right now. I know there is a difference in picture and sound quality but damn...10 times less already? It isn't like they have been out in 4K for a few years.

I still want the physical steelbook set. I just don't want to pay the money it is going for.

I do not believe the steelbook set is available for order anywhere. At least nowhere where I can find. You are now at the mercy of ebay and scalpers, unfortunately. I have seen these already go for $400-$600, at which point I agree with you. Even $270 was pushing it for me.

Yeah. I had a chance to get it for around $220 from one of the boutique dealers at one point and decided to pass. I wanted the set, but I just couldn't bite. Great looking set, though.

It is crazy how many of these sets are selling on eBay for $400 to $500 right now. Some selling for as much as $600. Nightmare on Elm Street Steelbook 4k Collection for sale | eBay

Talk about WB leaving money on the table. Just fucking dumb. And then the studios bitch that physical media doesn't sell anymore. It's also bullshit that these just seem to have all been bought by scalpers. The amount of them being sold on eBay now is insane and I never even saw them go on sale at Amazon.

Usually, this stuff eventually gets re-released in some form or fashion. I would be good just getting the entire set in a single Steelbook like they did with the recent Halloween Trilogy but I doubt that will happen since it is 7 movies. But so many movie series have been recently rereleased that way that I think there is an eventual chance. I can wait. Or I will just pick up the standard set eventually when it drops to rock bottom, which it eventually will. Hell, it just got released and I have already seen it go down to $80. The Sean Connery JB regular set is also already lowering heavily in price.

Totally agree. I honestly do not understand what these executives are thinking. In fact, if they would have thrown in individual posters (original art), an 80-100 page quality book, and lobby cards, they could have charged MORE and I would have paid it. I read that Heather Langenkamp didn't even know this box set was coming out, which shows just how much effort WB put into this set. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to include as many people possible, who are still living, intro a great retrospective. I would have loved to hear Renny Harlin and Chuck Russel's thoughts on their films and how it impacted their careers. Even thought I am really excited to (hopefully) get this box set, it does fail to live up to what I think it COULD have been. And limiting this to 15,000 sets across the world shows that WB either doesn't understand the fan base for their IP, or they really don't care to make as money as they can. Both are pretty weird perspectives for any business executive.

However, as I said, I suspect it could be 7-10 years before a boutique company like Arrow would get rights to do their own special edition. So, as the WB executives said, for now this is all we are going to get.

Sad.

p.s. I hear that the digital version for the entire set is now going for $20!!!! again, it shows how little WB really thinks of this franchise.

I wouldn’t mind upgrading the movies to 4K, but it’s a shame that the Steelbook collection was so limited.

The standard set isn’t that impressive looking compared to the Scream Factory Halloween and Friday the 13th Blu-ray sets.

I’ll wait until the Nightmare on Elm Street set is well below $100.

I bought the digital set a year or so ago, but at the time only part 1 was in 4K. The rest were just HD. I just checked and I didn’t get an upgrade.

Amazon Amazon

The regular 4K set (in the red case) is now $82.89 at Amazon. I don't know if that's a good deal or not. It runs about $12 something per movie after tax. To me, that still feels a little too expensive.

The steelbook box set is apparently no longer available.

That set is $79.99 on Gruv right now, plus you can do the signup20 20% off code which still works.

Promo codes only work once. I have already used the 20% off and 15% off codes. But, thanks for the heads up on the $79.99 price. I'll think about it.

They track the promo code usage by email address. With the new Shopify cart system they're using now, every email address gets another bite at the apple. That is, if you previously used "SIGNUP20" with your email address under the old system, you can use it again once with the new Shopify cart. And you can continue to use the code on every order by simply using a new email address during checkout.

Actually, Gruv has evidently changed their rules. People are now using the SIGNUP20 multiple times using the same account. I just tried it and was surprised it worked.

I wonder if they are trying to appease Shout Factory customers?
