NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: 1990 Tom Savini version
To celebrate 35 years since its release (incase you wanted to feel old today), Tom Savini‘s 1990 Night of the Living Dead is getting a new 4K UHD SteelBook release from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, including a new Uncensored Cut of the FX legend's take on George A. Romero's classic zombie horror.
The Night of the Living Dead Uncensored Cut restores the graphic violence (yay!) that was originally cut from the film in order to get it an X rating, giving Savini's original vision (as his feature directorial debut) the chance to play out as deserved. Per the man himself on Instagram: “Yes finally. Completely uncut, uncensored, and as i intended 35 years ago… it is black and white for a bit, as a homage to the original, and then color opens the curtain to my remake.”

After people complaining, Sony is now adding the UNCENSORED CUT to the Blu-ray also.

Definitely picking this up. One of my all time favorite zombie films.

Really surprised Sony is releasing this themselves, but I’m happy they are.
I’ve always enjoyed this remake. Not more than the original obviously, but I’m looking forward to replacing my Umbrella bluray.

I always liked this remake, too. I'll buy this, for sure. It's definitely a movie from 1990, a timely relic of its era, in terms of mood and style and lighting, but it's fun and a good take on the source material. And of course, Tony Todd elevates the entire film.

I'm looking forward to the B&W aspect of it. It's supposedly gonna start in B&W and then color is gonna gradually start to fill in the picture. Color bleed -- I guess it goes with the theme.

Already out of stock at Amazon. I hope they realize they need to make a ton of these to satisfy demand.

Sony has a few copies on eBay on their Please Rewind store. $39.99, alas.

I don't think I ever saw this but there's 3 copies left on eBay. FOMO almost got me to nab a copy.

As someone that preordered it, received it, and still hasn't opened my steelbook I kind of hope that this makes the demand for it on the secondary market go down. I have been going back and forth on whether I should sell mine, and honestly if I sold the copy I have I would end up buying another when Sony does another pressing.
Maybe I will try and get rid of my Umbrella blu-ray instead.

I preordered mine from Diabolik. I watched it immediately. While the B&W intro is unnecessary, I think the picture quality is fantastic.
Not trying to sway you guys either way, but it’s an excellent release.
