Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Finally got an email alert from Walmart that they were back in stock, so I ordered one that'll be ready for pickup Tuesday.

I got Zelda and ARMS from Best Buy with the GU discount.

Now to shell out $80 for another set of joy cons.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

I'm pretty happy with the Switch announcements at E3. Super Mario Odyssey looks fantastic. Seems like it might be the most fun Mario game in a long time (I never got very into the Super Mario Galaxy games for whatever reason). Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle also looks like it could be a fun time as do the new Kirby and Yoshi games. Metroid Prime 4 is welcome too. As for games currently out I am thinking about getting Arms but might wait on it. I'll probably pick up Splatoon 2 next month though.

Still not available in stores? What's Nintendo's game?

Our Best Buys and Targets get them with some regularity as of late, I'm sure Walmart does too but I can't tell because they hide theirs.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Best Buy yesterday told me they had some in stock (I didn't ask and we weren't talking video games, weird). I asked if it was part of the ARMS release or just regular Sunday stock.

The response?

"No, this is stock from last Sunday we held back for some reason."

So, don't put all the blame on Nintendo. Just ask somebody.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Pokémon and Metroid Prime are coming in 2018!

Quote:
GamesBeat: For the rest of the year, what’s the big message? Obviously Mario, but is there anything else?

Charlie Scibetta: Games. If you want to be able to play games and not have a dry spell between any of the big launches, we think Nintendo Switch is a good place to be. We have a nice drumbeat of first and third party. You’ll never have to wait long.

Just as you get through a game and you’re starting to put your head up, put the periscope out to see what else is out there, hopefully we’ll have something right there for you. We’ve announced a nice lineup through this year, and next year we have some big games coming with Metroid 4. 2018 will be around Metroid, Kirby, Yoshi, new Pokemon game has been announced. We feel good about the lineup for this year and beyond.

Scored an open-box extra dock from Best Buy for $70. Good way to save $20!

Cool, I've been wanting another dock so I can have one at work. I really don't want to pay $90, I saw that Nyko is making one for release in a few months though.

Is that the dock that comes with the proprietary cords? Maybe it's one of those docks that scratches your screens though, returned by someone who's unscrupulous.

I didn't know about that happening... I'll be sure to check that out. (It's supposed to come with the proprietary cords.)

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Yeah there were lots of early reports of screen scratches, apparently because some of the docks were a little warped. If you have a screen protector, no worries, though.

What stinks is that you can't just plug in a regular HDMI cable and make a dock work, you need their cord.

Um, I'm not using their cable, just a standard HDMI cable from Amazon that I already had on my TV... works fine.

...yeah, what? It's a standard HDMI cable, standard USB -> USB C, and Power Cord plug.

Ah, apologies, I meant the charger, without which you can't output video to the TV.
