Evangeline Lilly is in talks to join the cast of Marvel Studios' Ant-Man, Variety reports. The "LOST" and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug star is said to be up for a leading role in the July 17, 2015 release.
Although Lilly's potential role is still a mystery, the trade suggest that she might either be playing a love interest to Paul Rudd's Scott Lang, the daughter of Michael Douglas' Hank Pym, or both. There is the possibility, too, that the role in question is that of Janet Van Dyne who, in the comics, was a romantic interest to Pym and the alter-ego of the winsome Wasp.
Set to begin production shortly in Georgia, Ant-Man will be directed by Edgar Wright, who co-wrote the script with Joe Cornish (Attack the Block).
The film, which is supposed to launch "Phase Three" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will follow Avengers: Age of Ultron's May 1, 2015 release.

Either Lily or Jones was who I was hoping would have been cast as Lois Lane all along.
But now I'm glad that never came to pass, because the character is clearly going to be marginalized in what is turning out to be JLA-lite, non Superman-centric sequels.
Whoever the character is here (and I'm hoping it's Wasp with the silver/bronze age Pym/Janet relationship carried over here in all but name, and just a few expositional details) I'll be happy to see Lily getting it.
Marvel absolutely gets the concept of counter-programing. No matter how good/great the movies are in between, Ant-man is still likely to seem like a breath of fresh air- instead of more of the same. And that brings a level of excitement all by itself.

EXCLUSIVE: Patrick Wilson will join the cast of the Edgar Wright-directed Ant-Man for Marvel Studios, I hear. The film Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas and Michael Pena. Not sure what role Wilson will play at this point. He is coming off two fright franchise The Conjuring and Insidious. Wilson is repped by CAA and Anonymous Content.
