Man, that was a depressing run.

And what sucks for Hank was that no one remembers that his breakdown and behavior was orchestrated by Egghead. He gets tagged with "wife-beater" while other heroes get a pass - and it wasn't even his fault!
Err... are you sure?

Pym spilled some chemicals and had some kind of nervous breakdown/multiple personality disorder when he donned the Yellowjacket mantle... this is also when he got married, IIRC. But he felt inadequate, built a robot (not Ultron) to attack the Avengers so he could be a hero, and when his wife found out he hit her.

Shortly after that, when he was down in the dumps he was framed by Egghead over stealing some adamantium or somesuch, which resulted in the trial of Yellowjacket, but did they somehow retcon Egghead into emotionally manipulating him before that?

They had a chance to wipe this part out and exonerate him during Secret Invasion... but again, this is like his character defining moment (kinda like Tony Stark and alcohol), so they kept it in.

He's become a much more active hero in the past 10 years where he has come into his own but every once in a while they'll bring up that he hit Jane just to spite him. I can handle that Ultron was a mistake. He's redeemed himself with that and he accepts it. But damnit, they never let it go with hitting Jan. nobody shoves in Tony's face that he was a drunk much, if at all. He overcame that and they respected it but god damn it they can't let Hank live it down in peace.

Socially speaking it is an act that is hard to redeem in our culture, if at all. I just wish they'd let it go. Hank suffered from it and he will never forget it. We get it, guys.

Re: Ant-Man (2015, Wright) S: Rudd, Douglas

If anything, creating an evolving, invincible robot capable of killing every single superhero on Earth is a much greater sin. But really, the writers still write him unable to get over Janet, and until he does it's naturally going to come up.

It of course all depends what the writers want to focus on. There have been epic battles where a lot of civilians were killed due to superhero negligence before, but somehow one incident gets put on Speedball's shoulders and sparks Civil War. For a long time (actually, until Timm reinvented him) the defining character moment of John Stewart's career (other than being the black GL) was that he blew up a planet. Speedy is still the druggee sidekick to some, I'm sure. That's what happens when you're a B/C list superhero.

Let's see if they write wife beating into the movie for the older character...

But Pym's been robbed, regardless. And I say this as a huge Scott Lang fan who's looking forward to the movie.

Poor Jan. Didn't Juggernaught turn cannibal and eat her flesh?

That was the Ultimate Universe. In the regular MCU, a Skrull (disguised as Hank) injected her with something that turned her into a bio-bomb. Thor warped her away and everyone believed she was dead. She ended up in the Microverse for 10 years (her time).

That was Blob, not Juggernaut.

Blob ate the Wasp, and then Pym as Giant Man bit Blob's head off.

It was from the Ultimatum storyarc which killed off about 80% of the Ultimate Marvel universe in the most brutal way possible. As bad as Mark Millar's Ultimates was, it was a freaking masterpiece compared to the shitfest that was Ultimatum.

Spoiler:

I can always tell by how detail he goes into. It is ALMOST too much but he doesn't go overboard for me. I liked his Avengers work.

Ultimatum is not a good story. Its universally hated by everyone. Its basically the OMD of the Ultimate universe.

The 2008 Iron Man movie did a good job of wiping away the Civil War stigma on Tony Stark. Maybe this movie can do the same for Ant Man.

Marvel takes advantage of DC's blunder. Ant-Man has been pushed up and will now release on July 17, 2015 which was SvB's original release date.

Stolen from the comments in that article: "they should change the title to Ant-Man of Steel, too."

Smart play here. I know they think this will probably do OG Thor/Cap #'s, but having it in the middle of summer is probably better for the box office.

It did? I thought they just decided that hey, this character is popular now so maybe he shouldn't be such a bad guy, so let's come up with a way to hit the reset button. Granted, Fraction's storyline was pretty good, but it was still basically "hey he has brain damage and can't remember the bad crap he did."

Note that, as comics tend to do, this is like the second or third time they had to make up some crap as to why Iron Man could be redeemed... last time, they had some teen Tony Stark from the past come and take his place.

At least with this version of Ant Man, they brought him back a couple of years ago so they don't need to be as drastic.

It's only moved up 2 weeks. It doesn't seem like THAT big of a deal to me.

2 extra weeks with kids home from school. It has more to do with where those 2 weeks are at.
