SNL 04/24/10 - H: Gabourey Sidibe - MG: MGMT
I'm not getting my hopes up... at all.

Same here. Even if the show if fuckin' hilarious and she does a great job, I'm still gonna come in here and bitch and moan about how SNL shoulda been canceled years ago.

Other than a few years when Tina Fey was the head writer this show has always had bad sketches outnumber decent ones the last 15 or 20 years.

The acting overall has been better this season from both the cast and the hosts. There have been years where I don't think there was any rehearsal and the first time the cast saw the script was when they were reading the cue-cards during the show, at least that's how it always looked.

I will say this, I've only seen Sidibe on one thing, Conan quite a bit ago, and she was pretty damn funny just being herself so I'm staying optimistic.

I thought 'Precious' as a whole was overrated but nothing could probably live up to the hype that had built up over it.
And you can't deny the scenes with Monique and Gabourey Sidibe are gut wrenching, intense and haunting. The movie is worth seeing for those scenes alone.
Having seen this chick now on SNL being herself and almost sounding like a white girl from Encino only makes her performance that much more incredible.
Even if that the only role she is never for, she did a hell of a job and I urge everyone to at least check it out even if your first reaction is there no way in hell you would ever be into the movie.
You might end up surprised.
