SNL 11/07/09 - H & MG: Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is pulling double duty tonight (as talked about in the first promo).

The second promo below was uncalled for.

The third promo below is majorly inappropriate and unexpectedly funny!

all of those promos are hilarious.

glad this is back

Also, cannot wait for the 11/21/09 show. JGL & DMB, should be great. Although, I would have liked to see Jim Carey host that show, as rumored. Ah well.

Will she be bringing her Nazi friends on stage, or will they have to just watch from the audience?

Maybe Julianne Hough will join her on stage for a song or two.

They had to bring up the Kanye issue so I had no problem with that but the promos didn't make me laugh.

If they hadn't mentioned it, I would never have known Samberg was doing Nic Cage during The View skit. He looked like Matthew Modine and sounded like Keanu Reeves.

I don't think Katy Perry was invited to the show.

The roommate skit had a LOT of potential.

All they needed to do for the Fox News skit is just have Suidekis do Glenn Beck. He nailed that quite well.

The rest of that skit - other than Wiig's stellar work as usual - was bad. That said, Juan Williams is not a band wagon guy, by any means.

Besides the Penelope skit, most of the other skits were okay, with standouts from Scared Straight, and even liked the Bunny Business one. I would have paid to see Firelight.

That being said, Taylor Swift has a mediocre voice with little range.

I thought she was a pretty good host for being a musician.

Her Shakira impression was great andFirelight was a great digital short. Loved it when she lit the bunsen burner and Frankenstein got up screaming.

Not having seen the show I can't comment on her comedic acting abilities but as far as her singing, I've never been impressed. She sounds like a teenager which is fine because she is one but her voice is nothing special. Maybe people like her songwriting, her looks, or that the teenage girls relate to her or something. It's still a mystery why her albums have been so successful.

Agreed. I certainly can't relate to her music, but her singing wasn't too pleasant either; her voice sounds tinny and a little shaky.

Re: SNL 11/07/09 - H & MG: Taylor Swift

Samberg was excellent with his Nic Cage impersonation.

It seems like Keenan is getting more airtime this season and he appears in almost all of the sketches now.

I admit You Belong To Me is not a bad song and I am not usually a fan of those type of musicians.

It seemed like the electric guitar players were playing air guitar. WTF?

It seems like nobody ever laughs at any of the sketches Nasim Pedrad does.

I miss Maya Rudolph and she was underrated.

Praying for Kristen Wiig to do more movies and leave SNL after the 2009-2010 season.

I think she's a great songwriter, and once she gets older I think her songs will mature with her and she'll pump out a number of great tunes. Now that said, she is an absolutely horrible singer live and in person, just absolutely atrocious. If you think she's horrible live on TV, she is even worse in person, especially acoustic sets where she has almost nothing to go on but herself. She is decent when she's singing something constant, with no range, but no better than any random person who does the same thing, if not worse. I've heard tons of people who have never had a shot that could sing way better than her. It is said by some in Nashville that her family all out bought her way into Nashville, promoters and producers, since they knew she couldn't sing but did have some fairly good songs she wrote herself, but that's an entirely different topic.

Re: SNL 11/07/09 - H & MG: Taylor Swift

Taylor is alot like Shania Twain in that regard. Like Shania, her voice is nothing special, but she apparently makes up for it in other areas. Shania relied on sex appeal, where Taylor is relying more on sweetness. Taylor also seems to be much more talented than Shania at songwriting.
