Is it a game?
Is it a movie?

It has been confirmed that it is indeed pikmin, as the updated video is on Nintendo Today (Oct. 8, 2025). I guess we've got some new pikmin lore…

I'm not down for the Switch 2 at its current price but a new Pikmin would be tempting.

That video was like the cutest thing ever from Nintendo. Loved the light piano music too. Obviously like the Pikmin 4 soundtrack but also reminded me of Untitled Goose Game. Would it have worked better for you if it was a 10 second TikTok with 100 jump cuts? 
So we know it's officially Pikmin.
But what is it??? It's clear they spent a good chunk of change to produce it so I doubt it if it's just a teaser for a new Pikmin game. Plus we just got Pikmin 4 like within the last decade.
So is it a teaser for a Pikmin movie? Or a series of shorts?

I don't think the baby can see the Pikmin. They were just chasing their pacifier. That would be hilarious! New Pikmin game. Babies are your enemy. You have to avoid being smashed and getting drooled on. When you defeat them the flip on their back with their arms and legs in the air as you drag their corpse back to the onion to produce more sprouts.
It does bring up a lot of questions though. We always knew Pikmin took place on Earth and likely in some post apocalyptic future after humans are gone..or at least abandoned the areas we've been in? But then there was that level in a house in Pikmin 4 that looked way too new to be post apocalyptic. In the mobile bloom game it states that people can't see pikmin so I guess that's why they're invisible in the first video.
Very interesting new direction from Nintendo.

Meh, but whatever gives the franchise more visibility to stay relevent so it doesnt take another decade for a sequel, as tanman said.
