Deck, what table do you like the best between Pinball FX and M? or more so which is the best for a newcomer to console pinball?

You don't really have to choose. Both games are free shells and come with at least one free table. They're made with the same game engine, by the same people. Everything goes on sale, so don't buy anything at full price.
I would definitely get the Death Save bundle for Pinball M for $8. Every table on both games has a demo so you can try it out.
I know there's a ton of DLC tables on sale currently for Pinball FX. Look around and see. The Game Night bundle is a sweet deal at $3.XX for 3 original tables - They're all good. I own a bunch and bought more, so I can't really direct you as to which ones to get -- I can't see what's on sale any more. The Williams bundles are digital versions of real tables. I make sure to always grab those when they go on sale. They're classics.
Many original tables are great, but some I don't love (the Kong vs Godzilla bundle and the DreamWorks ones come to.mind as ones I rarely revisit).
Like I said, there are demos so you can briefly try them out.

Oh yeah, the Epic Quest table for Pinball FX is probably the best one they ever made. If that table is on sale (in the bundle of two - Charity Pack), be sure to pick that one up. All these years later, it's still an amazingly fun table

It's not on sale right now, so just wait until it is.

It says $4.99. It will be lower in the future you're saying?

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

Yes. I think I bought it for half that or less.

Oh, this table is 2/3 off. It's very non-traditional, but has some fun modes to explore. For less than 2 bucks, totally worth it.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

Wow. I have a whole new genre to play...pinball. I had so much fun playing a few tables. I played The Thing, Texas Chainsaw and Ancient Gods (liked this the best). But the tables look gorgeous and the pickup and play style is so conforming to what I like. Thanks again Deck for all.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

I posted this in the OG Switch thread years ago.

There was a Kickstarter in 2018 for an accessory called the FlipGrip which allowed to play your Switch in portrait mode.

https:/www.kickstarter.com/projects/fangamer/flip-grip

It won’t be long until there’s a Switch 2 version somewhere.

I play it with some old arcade Switch games. I’ve gotten my money’s worth out of it.

Here it is with Pinball FX (and thanks for the tip).

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

I bought that via the Kickstarter, but barely used it. Ergonomically it doesn't work well and feels top-heavy and lopsided. Not comfortable to hold. Being able to just stand the screen vertically is much better. Plus having the wide separation of the left and right hands, for me, is ideal. My son gets so mad when I press both flipper buttons together, as I have a hard time having my brain tell only one specific hand to reflexively press the flipper button. I find it's a lot easier with the hands spaced apart.

Also the Pinball FX tables look better on a Switch 2. Definitely sharper visuals.

Will they make a switch 2 flip grip? I'm not even sure they made one for the OLED...

And Bloomberg just reported on why Nintendo dropped off amazon.com:

Nintendo Co. pulled its products from Amazon.com Inc.'s US site after a disagreement over unauthorized sales, meaning the e-commerce company missed out on the recent debut of Nintendo's Switch 2 — the biggest game console launch of all time.

The Japanese company stopped selling on Amazon after noticing that third-party merchants were offering games for sale in the US at prices that undercut Nintendo's advertised rates, according to a person familiar with the situation. Enterprising sellers were buying Nintendo products in bulk in Southeast Asia and exporting them to the US, said the person, who requested anonymity to discuss confidential information.
Amazon tried to assuage Nintendo by offering to attach labels to products that guarantee they're authentic. Amazon uses the technique to assure shoppers products aren't counterfeits and to help it track merchandise. But the offer wasn't sufficient, the person said, and Nintendo ultimately opted to pull its products from Amazon in the US.

I mean Woot is owned by Amazon and they themselves were doing it. It wasn't just "third party sellers."

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

And although I missed it due to the paywall, but Amazon and Nintendo both deny the reporting but don't provide any further explanation.

"There is no such fact. We do not disclose details of negotiations or contracts with retailers," a Nintendo spokesperson said in an e-mailed response, declining to elaborate further.

An Amazon spokesperson said "the claims made by Bloomberg regarding our relationship with Nintendo are inaccurate" but declined to specify how. "Amazon is pleased to offer Nintendo products directly to our customers as part of our commitment to providing an exceptional shopping experience with the widest selection possible," the spokesperson said.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

I just got the Nintendo invitation to purchase a Switch 2.

I have until July 4th at 3:00pm to decide.

It’s got me thinking… 🤔

Good. Be strong. And under no circumstances should you watch any of the new DK Bananza previews that dropped today - like the one I'm about to post...

I hope this is the future of new console releases -- enough availability for everyone who wants one to get one in the first month or so.

Agreed. Those who want one should be able to get one.

I’ll get one eventually. I just don’t need it “right now.”

They have before. Going from the Wii. I had a couple of cards of Wii points that just vanished in value. Plus the fact that they shut down the virtual console in between consoles and they have a penchant for making you rebuy old games/subscribe to their service and I don't really trust them with digital games. Not fully anyways. It's always in the back of my mind anyways. How many generations can you go back on the PS and XBox compared to Nintendo? Let alone Steam.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

Good for them. As much as people really hate Nintendo right now, everything they've done has been in protection to themselves as a company. And while I think some of their decisions can step over the line I can respect that. Amazon however, they just continually screw people over to extract every single red cent out of their customers AND their business partners. So screw them.
