Fudge it, paid $18 and hope to finish in a month  Depending on how much I like it I may buy it in a year. 25-40 hours for just story or completion, very doable.

IMO, neither is ok... being discovered in a stealth mission should mean a shit-show fire fight, not a do-over. Agree with you about looting things again --- so fucking stupid. How do developers let this stuff slide in 2024?
My copy arrived and, quite honeslty, i'm not as fired up to play as I was when the game was announced. I'm trying to get thru RDR2 and I kinda don't want to lose steam playing that. I might have to wrap that up first before I dive into Outlaws.

I had forgotten that I did a pre-order of the UE Steelbook at Target. Unless I'm blown away with the cover (or they're going for a mint on eBay) I will be taking it back to Target and waiting for Black Friday.

Well, that sucks.15 minutes into the game and I love it. All hundreds of hours I will spend on it sigh. I'll get what I can out of this month then wait for a sale. I have it at the lowest graphics setting and it is fantastic.

Not a great start, to be sure. Hopefully folks didn’t get too far on their original saves.

Yeah forced stealth can kiss my ass. I love stealth but starting over at the beginning is bush league.

I just love clown car enemies when the alarm is triggered. So realistic!

One thing I just discovered is that if theres two guards near each other , you use nix to attack one, rush in, stealth takedown the other guard and takedown the guard nix attacked it won't trigger a fail.

You can also bum rush one guard if your close enough and it won't cause an instant fail.

Apparently later on Nix can be upgraded to steal the comms off guards so they can't call for backup.

Sometimes there’s two guards and you can distract one and the other will look and turn around and keep walking.

I don't understand how the company that makes the longest running stealth-based game series can mess it up so badly here. Sounds like such a slog to get through.

I played for maybe 20 minutes last night... got to the part where you are dropped off and actually begin the open-world portion of the game? It was fine... nothing breaking new ground. I do like that you can send Nix on theft and fetch missions. I am playing on the easiest setting, I simply don't care to get frustrated playing too many games these days (I have NCAA 25 for that). I'm in this for the experience only. I know most people will likely shit on this game a bit because it's SW but when I compare a few of the physics and methods to Assassin's Creed -- it's pretty much that. AC rarely breaks new ground these days and hasn't been "amazing" in almost 6 or 7 years, if that.

Good point assuming you're talking about Assassin's Creed. Didn't Ubisoft make Splinter Cell too? Definitely stealth origins in that company.

That being said, Outlaws isn't bad. It's fun it just feels like hurry up and finish it and not I'm gonna play the hell out of this and do a couple more run throughs. I'll try and play when I can, but it would have to get a lot better for me to renew my Ubisoft Plus subscription for another month.

But I'd happily pay $20 for a copy when it's on sale.

I'm having a lot of fun with this game. mind you I only played a couple hours, but so far pretty fun. the stealth isn't that bad, especially since you have Nix to distract or even attack. I only got caught once in one section on the first planet, but it looks like it takes a bit to get going, but once it does it is a good game. similar to other gaming tropes. nothing really new I've seen, but that's fine. the play and the world are where it's at.

I didn't realize you could play on the XSX with Ubi+. Thought that was PC only. That might be worth $18 for a month, with the long weekend.

Yep, that is what I did, cancelled the pre-order and subbed for 1 month to play it.

Cool thing is that the sub is good for both Xbox and PC - have checked on Playstation yet.

A good chunk of the game reminds me of Tomb Raider as far as getting to some areas on foot.

Not on Playstation, unfortunately. Which is weird because the base version of Ubi+ is included with PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers.

Holy shit fuck missions where you lose if you are caught sneaking. The absolute worst. Outside of that it is fun so far. Sending Nix to sabotage and blow guys up is fun.

Save right before you start a mission . If you get caught sneaking around a gangs area your reputation will lower. Learned that the hard way when my reputation with Crimson Dawn went down :(

I keep trying to save my game manually, but it is never highlighted so I can't use the save game option. I check all the time, but says Can't Save Right Now, or something like that.

I'm glad I got a month to try it out but I also know I will wait for a sale.

Game is fun but a big problem I'm having is that the protagonist is such an unlikeable person. She has an aggrandized sense of self, no loyalty or sense of friendship, she is not a good human being. I've never played with a protagonist I hate so much.

You have to finish a main mission before it'll let you save manually. I think it was tbe 3rd of 4th mission? But after that you can save all the time outside of main and side quests .
