He is. And he wouldn’t use cheats if he was on PC. Cheats are only good if you’re done with the game or bored and have an old save to revert to. At least IMO.

Yeah, I think Quicksave -> screw up-> reload previous save is as "cheaty" as I want to get.

Starfield has a very easy mode. There's really no need for cheats if you set it to that difficulty.

I recommend folks stick to the main quests at least until a certain thing happens, and you'll know it when it does. Then go off and level your ass up.

I did the complete Ryujin quest line in Neon and that was pretty fulfilling. Feels like some of these side quests could be an entirely separate game.

And just wait until you start answering unknown distress calls. hooooo boy!

What happens? Little hint? Don’t give it away just try and be as vague as possible. I’ve only done a few main quests.

You'll be tasked with investigating an anomaly in scanner data or something like that. Basically, you'll land at a particular planet or moon or whatever, and you'll need to bust out your scanner and follow the direction in which the scanner view (the outer circle when you have your scanner open) starts glitching out.

re: STARFIELD (Xbox/PC 2023)

I don't recall if anyone else here has this issue like me but has anyone had problem with motion sickness playing this? I got super dizzy after playing for no more than an hour. Not sure if this is the root but I noticed that the depth of field is very short when in first person view. Maybe if there's a mod out there to zoom out, it would help.

REALLY sucks as I was very much looking forward to losing myself in this game for hours at a time.

Are you playing on PC? Apparently you can edit an .ini file to change the FOV until Bethesda offers this in an official patch.
To change the FOV in Starfield, follow these simple steps:
  1. Navigate to the Game Directory: Open the File Explorer on your PC and go to the following directory:
    Code:
    Documents/MyGames/Starfield
  2. Create a Text File: Inside the “Starfield” folder, create a new text file. You can do this by right-clicking within the folder, selecting “New,” and then choosing “Text Document.” Name the file “StarfieldCustom.ini” (without the quotes).
  3. Edit the Text File: Right-click on the newly created “StarfieldCustom.ini” file and open it with a text editor of your choice, such as Notepad.
  4. Add FOV Settings: Inside the text file, add the following lines:
    Code:
    [Camera] fFPWorldFOV=100.0000 fTPWorldFOV=100.0000
You can adjust the FOV values as per your preference. The values in the example are set to 100, but you can experiment with different numbers until you find the FOV that suits you best.
  5. Save and Close: After adding the lines, save the text file and close it.
  6. Launch Starfield: Start or restart Starfield to apply the FOV changes you made in the “StarfieldCustom.ini” file.
The game is severely lacking in accessibility features right now, but I would expect all of that stuff to come in a bit later.

re: STARFIELD (Xbox/PC 2023)

Thanks! I'll give that a try.

And yeah, pretty bad options for accessibility compared to what other games offer these days. I turned Motion Blur off (first thing I do for any game that has the option) but there really wasn't much else to try to help.

3rd person was even worse. When you're indoors the distance to your character keeps changing based on the camera.

Is it better to buy a new ship for start by upgrading existing? Either seems overwhelming

Steal one. It’s easy. Wait for one to land, board it, and take it.

Also, you can’t build a ship from scratch. You have to sell all the parts from one then do it. It’s better that way because then you have a lot of credits to work with.

re: STARFIELD (Xbox/PC 2023)

After playing since August 31st, I can honestly say this is a top 3 all time game for me. Maybe it’s the BGS fan boi in me, but I have laughed and smiled and just had a great time playing. Yeah it’s not perfect. There’s glitches. But as I said before they’re funny and not game breaking.

What I don’t like? Well for one the option to eat food as you pick it up should be added. Also I wish you could fly into a planet and land like in No Man’s Sky. I wish you could carry more. I have weightlifting maxed out and found two magazines that increased my carry limit and it’s still only 240. And it fills up fast. I wish you could sort aid items easier. I wish I didn’t have to press three buttons to quick save (four if I’m in the middle of scanning).

Overall though, it’s a 9.5 in my book.

Also (I forget if it’s been mentioned) the in game photos you take start to cycle as your loading screens. A really nice touch. You can take some beautiful (or just plain silly) pictures.

I actively dislike Bethesda games (I've dabbled in Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout Vegas and Fallout 4) and I love this game.

Well this is fucking fun. Attracted attention of 3 ships. Can't fight then because I am over matched. Can't hyper jump because I am in combat. And I can't out run them. Basically stuck in a boot loop with no way to get out. I literally can't escape. Awesome

you should be able to grav jump still. I had something similar happen and I was able to get out of it that way.
I think it depends how you set up the jump though. One way requires you to not be in combat, but using the star map should be doable to jump to another solar system nearby. The game does tell you that you can do that, at some point.

Nope. Wouldn't let me. I had to reload a save and lose like 20+ minutes.

You have to save often. I had the same issue and had a save 2 mins earlier.

Also lock picking might be the worst part of this game.

re: STARFIELD (Xbox/PC 2023)

I’m enjoying it, but I don’t remember any of the side quests in ES or Fallout being as tedious as some of them in this game.
