Re: 2021 Black Friday Video Game Deals

All right you all talked me into it. I bought Guardians of the Galaxy. I'll be working on a live newscast when the Walmart sale starts and I don't know if I'll be able to get a $25 copy so I bought it from Target for $29.99.

Also, the Target sale prices are live now. I almost bought Miles Morales, but I'm going to wait on it until I get a PS5 and finish the first Spider-Man game. I'm also debating on getting Nickelodeon All Star Brawl. It looks fun.

Some of the Playstation titles look tempting but it seems like they're mostly the same price digitally, and this (and last) generation I don't see much of a reason to get the physical disk anymore. The few exceptions are stuff like Guardians of the Galaxy which are much cheaper physically.

I still like to buy the physical disk so I can sell it and get some money back if I don't like the game or Sony ends up giving it to me for "free" via Playstation Plus. I was successful at selling games for $10 each or more at my yard sale in July.

Picked up GotG (PS5), Immortals Fenyx Rising (PS4/5), Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4/5), and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (PS4/5) for $80 + tax from Best Buy.

I'm good for awhile.

Just clarifying: GotG is actually (PS4/5) since it includes both versions. And RDR2 is just a PS4 game, though like almost every PS4 game, it’s playable on the PS5.

Well, I should have known better.
Target does not let you use gift cards to purchase Xbox Game Pass codes. The option is disabled if the GP is in your cart when you check out. No idea if it works in store or not, but I'm guessing not. Ah well... The $24.99 3-month GPU is still a good deal. I just have to find something else to spend my Target cash on now.

It is a sad day when the "deal" I want to find is just a Xbox Series X or the Halo version for MSRP.

^ You'll have another chance at disappointment today, via Walmart!

edit: ah shit. I see it's for Walmart+ members only. WTF.
But apparently you can get a 15-day trial and cancel it. Worth considering...

I don't know for sure, but I'm assuming that "paid members" means it excludes folks using the trial.

Re: 2021 Black Friday Video Game Deals

The Walmart+ early access sale is live, and these prices will be available to everyone around 7 PM ET.

For instance, Guardians of the Galaxy and Back 4 Blood are both $25. No sign of a repeat of that crazy low price for Returnal, so I guess I'm kicking myself.

Gamestop has the digital 3 month cards for the same price now in case you have any store credit.

Anyone have any success getting the $25 games at Walmart? I checked about 30 minutes after the sale started and Back 4 Blood was already sold out.

Which games are you looking for? It's nice that many of the Gamestop deals also included the digital versions, so I picked up New Super Mario Bros and Paper Mario.

I’m looking for Origami King, Kirby, and Super Mario 3D World. Only Origami King is available at GameStop.

Kirby is 26.99 (unless there's another one besides star allies). You have to add it to your cart but it's there digitally.

I highly doubt 3d world will be on sale on eshop when it wasn't even slightly discounted for retailers, but we'll see in a few hours I guess.
