I got an order in for a PS5 with Gamestop - just waiting for that to ship and I'll be all over this.

For those with Game Pass, this can be pre-downloaded now.

Re: MLB The Show 21

My initial thoughts: I don’t like it. It feels like a step backward. Maybe it’s the first year on a new console or next gen console curse? I dunno. But I have quite a few complaints.

1. Whose idea was it to make me not able to earn XP when I tweak my sliders? Sometimes I want to turn them up to ridiculous levels and mash the ball. Stupid change.

2. The video of the MLB Network guys talking about your player gets old really fast. I was skipping them after the fourth or fifth time.

3. Load outs? What is this Call of Duty? Stupid.

4. Why can’t my pitcher pitch and hit in the same game? Ohtani does it.

5. Why does my pitcher get zero run support? And I’m not saying zero as in low. I mean zero. Literally. Five starts. Five losses. Absolutely no runs scored. None. This is impossible in real life.

6. The same old bugs. Calling my team different names. Saying different players names.

7. I tried to make my own stadium. Cool feature. Except I can’t name it. Or change the city. Or year built. Or even save it at all. Great feature.

I’m sure there’s more. But I’ve been waiting for this forever and it’s just such a let down. The only good thing about the game is it was free and I didn’t waste my money on it.

Damn this is disappointing to read. I’ve been waiting a long time for this to come to Xbox. I was going to buy it today, maybe I’ll wait for some more reviews.

Re: MLB The Show 21

I’ll add a couple more. The game looks last gen on my 65 inch LG OLED. Also the online connectivity is horrendous. Want to earn stubs or buy packs? Fuck off.

Another gripe. When my player pitches, even when I throw what the catcher calls, I’m not even joking when I say I’ll get at least a dozen passed balls a game. It’s like a right fielder is catching. What a complete joke.

Re: MLB The Show 21

^^ This is disheartening to say the least. I was going to try RTTS for the first time and now I'll probably just give Franchise a go again... I read that it's pretty much the same as year's past (which is a bit of a letdown) but is still very good.

Re: MLB The Show 21

I've had no issues with RTTS and am enjoying the game just like previous years.

Re: MLB The Show 21

My pitcher is literally 0-10. And has allowed maybe 20 runs in 10 starts. His run support? A combined total of four runs in ten games.

Then there’s the fact he won’t throw to first when he fields a ball. Ok I lied. He does. He just waits til the runner is safe.

Re: MLB The Show 21

My pitcher has no losses, has pitched at least 1 shutout and 1 perfect game.

Of course the game will relieve me in the 9th a lot of the time and we end up losing lol.

He also has about a dozen home runs so far.

That's good I guess. Nick, maybe restart the whole damn thing? Maybe you just have a perfect storm of bad coding working against that player??

I finally starting getting run support and winning games but it still doesn’t explain the dozens of passed balls every game.

Re: MLB The Show 21

I started RTTS myself. They force you into this dual position thing but whatever. I want to play SS as I really don't enjoy the pitching interface. In my first game, I went 2-4 but was picked off first base both times -- how incredibly frustrating. I didn't realize I had to be so goddam aware of a pickoff move and have lightning reflexes as well.

You gotta marvel at how stable the server is though. You’d think they’d have issues. But aside from being disconnected every five minutes and not able to earn rewards and online bonuses or play against anyone online at all, it’s been a dream.

The server issue is a game killer. Every time I try to play, the servers are down. They should have known this would come into play now that's it's available for Xbox now.

Available is one thing, free with Game Pass Ultimate is quite another.

Re: MLB The Show 21

I've only had minor server issues on the Xbox, nothing that has prevented me from playing.

Re: MLB The Show 21

I had to stop playing. While the game is growing on me (or they fixed some bugs), there’s one I can’t deal with until it’s patched and that’s the fact your missions aren’t registering properly after games.

It’ll say get 5 XBH and it’ll stop counting after one. No matter how many you get or how many games you play. Sometimes it won’t even recognize the first one. This is bad since it’s a huge part of getting to the majors.

Servers are ALWAYS down for me... not going to bother to play until this is fixed. Not a great way to introduce a fantastic game to this market.

I had to work on my perk or whatever it was. Like if you're speed or power etc. Took me four in game years but I eventually got the call.

Is Jeff Passan part of the in game presentation or did they just use him for the commercials?

Re: MLB The Show 21

Not sure, the only voice I notice is Matt's probably because his voice is so identifiable.
They really fucked up the check swings this year, any time you press the button for more than a millionth of a second you get called for a strike.

One thing that has always bugged me about the game is how they plaster MLB The Show all over the outfield walls and various other places in the stadiums. Like do you really need to advertise your game inside your game? I know they need to put something in those spots but put fake sponsors/ads or something else besides the name of the game.

I think they do that in all sports games.
