Start it up! It's great! I played 12 hours on Sunday and Monday.

I want to, but want to give attention it deserves and I usually only play 1 game at a time and I’m on another right now that I don’t want to give up just yet.

Re: Horizon: Forbidden West (PS4, PS5; 2/18/22)

I've been playing this over the last few weeks. Just finished a week ago. It's included as part of the Playstation Extra tier of "free" games. I still had loads of side quests left, finishing up the main quest at level 45. I reached the point where I was starting to feel burned out on the game and just wanted to power through the ending. The DLC being on sale is tempting though.

Great game though and very worthy sequel. Like I saw mentioned earlier, combat seemed changed enough that I couldn't rely on weapons and strategies that worked in the first game. The Spike Thrower and Bolt Blaster became my weapons of choice for tough enemies, especially with the Stamina-powered special shots (though the Bolt Blaster's super slow reload speed made it hard to use for more than a couple of shots in one battle).

The Valor powers were an interesting wrinkle, though I wish there was an easier way to toggle between them. I'm guessing the overpowered one alluded to earlier was "Toughened"? That was my go-to. The game would even keep reminding me there were other Valor powers, but I would just think "Nope, this one works for me".

And it was a little disappointing that the ending
Spoiler:
ended on as much of a cliffhanger as it did. I hope it's not 5 years until the next game, like the gap we had between Zero Dawn and this game.

I purchased it when it was $14.99 then got the new Assassin’s Creed and Spider-Man. It’ll probably be down to $4.99 before I get around to playing it.

I bought it today. I had a gift card. I still haven’t finished the main game.

Dammit.

I have both Forbidden West (it came with the PS5) and Zero Dawn..

I started this one first thinking it was the first game...the big clue should have been how great it looked. I kept thinking this looks amazing for an older game.

I guess I can go back tot he first one when this one is done.

Yeah, you'll be fine. Even as someone who did play 'em in order, I'd forgotten a bunch of the supporting characters by the time I started the sequel, key plot points had kind of faded away from my mind, and the mechanics are different in a lot of ways. (The first game was more forgiving of the same couple of tactics being abused, and the sequel requires you to strategize more.)
