I finally received my Switch from Amazon and started playing last night. I went with first island option, the one with the main portion of land in the center with rivers separating the left and right sides. I almost have 5,000 miles. Should I go ahead and pay off Tom Nook? I didn't know if I could travel to another island to look for non-native fruit (there's only pears on my island) or if I need to pay him first. I already have Blathers on my island and have the shovel and vaulting pole.

Go ahead and Pay him off first. Your “Mom” will send you a second fruit, so don’t worry about the fruit yet.

... when you come visit one of us, you can get the others you need. ;)

Thanks! I'm really liking the game so far. It's very peaceful and a nice respite from everything going on right now. When does the turnip lady show up? I looked for her yesterday (Sunday), but figured she wouldn't show up since it was my first day. Will she be on the island on Sundays?

She is there until noon on Sundays.

Side note, lots of new fish and a few new bugs start today. Also, Nook's Cranny added an additional item for sale in their store. Picked up a few Blue Summer Shells (but haven't received any recipes that use them yet) :up:

Haven't seen any of the wedding stuff or anything else pop up yet, not sure when that starts.

First thing upon leaving my house tis morning, I got a call from Harvey to come to his island and help with an anniversary photoshoot for Reese and Cyrus (the alpacas). My wife went and did it first thing on her Switch... I'll get to it when I get to it.

I think that it'll be the first of many trips to see Harv this month.

A lot more hit-and-run fish today for me. I don't think I've missed this many in an entire week or two all-together.

The sharks are rather impressive catches.

The fish catching hasn't changed. As long as you are timing it right it's a 100% success rate. I can't even remember the last time I've missed a fish.

I find there's a handful of times where the reaction time is a bit tighter. I'd say I catch 9/10, though.
