I had thought of that too. But you never know. They can take this

and turn it into this

You just made me realize I don't need either of these at launch. Now, I want to wait for a special release.

Should be interesting to see how this goes.
For example, if walmart fucks up again by selling early, their stock will just go to the other retailers.. In theory, this shouldn't negatively affect buyers other than those who buy from the retailers if/when they sell early.

Hopefully this is less of a shit show than PS5 orders.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

When they go live is irrelevant if people are botting to buy them in bulk. See: Nvidia's website yesterday at 9am EST.

In fact, it's actually better for the general public if the time isn't announced. That gives normal people a chance to buy before the bots are up and running. I had no problem getting a PS5 from Walmart when they first went up and I saw the tweet. Not even slowdown on the site. Granted, it makes it so you have to be lucky on the timing but the result is more actual customers getting orders rather than resellers.

Yeah, because that worked so well for the PS5s everywhere... including Walmart last night.

Until you can eliminate bots all together, there's no full solution. But if you compare PS5 surprise pre-orders to Nvidia's scheduled launch of the 3080, FAR more actual customers were able to get PS5 orders processed. I don't know of a single person who was able to place an order on Nvidia's site; many of us were camping at our PC's for the 9am launch. It went from "notify me" to site crashed to Out of Stock. Yet I saw one person on twitter who was able to buy 42(!!!) cards directly from the site using a bot script.

I guess we could go back to in-person only pre-orders at B&M; one per customer. That would fix it.

The bots were ready and waiting for that batch to go live. Goes to my point.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Are these bots paying with completely different credit cards and shipping to different locations? Otherwise, while for some it would be a burden I don't see why they can't limit it per household.

I have no idea. I know they were all on separate orders but I don't know if the scripts are able to input different payment/shipping info for each.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Two questions.
1) Anyone have links to the exact location on these sites when the pre orders start?
2) Do we have option to pre order with partial or full payment or it will be one or the other. Gamestop is letting you do anywhere from $50 to paying in full. Other stores?

3) Are the online pre orders providing launch day delivery?

Far as I've seen, GS is the only one that lets you choose how much your deposit is. All other stores either just run a basic pre-authorization or they do a full payment. I'll see if I can find the details on who does what.

That's three, not two! I'm sure they all want to, but we'll see how that pans out in real time.

So looking at the 35 dollar a month option. Seems like decent deal. Is the game pass worth the 15 bucks a month? Last system I had was a 360.

Hard to say. There is a ton of games on there. Basically Netflix for games. But you may have to check to see if the stuff appeals to you. Two big plusses are you get all MS 1st party games and now EA Play. My personal take was if I get 1-2 MS games a year on it, it had paid for itself. Everything else is gravy. Now with EA Play, it is an even better value.

So no in store preorder. I wonder how they will decide which store you’re preordering from (assuming you’ll have to either pick a store or if you have one already on your browser) and how to differentiate between online and store. It’ll probably be straightforward. Anyone do this with PS5 pre order?

You have to select the store.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

This is heresay (because the source is Gamestop employees) but this article says that allocation of the One X is even lower than that of the PS5 for gamestop stores, maybe others:

Those of you who are pre-ordering tomorrow, where are you trying first? I'm leaning towards the Microsoft online store. Had excellent luck with them in 2013... Just don't want the console to arrive at like 9pm.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

For me, it's Amazon or bust, but only because I have enough GCs stockpiled to pay for the damned thing. If I can't get it this attempt, I'll just try again later. I'll be annoyed but not heartbroken if I can't get one at launch.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

I figure Best Buy is my go to site. Always worked in the past. Although I think I did Gamestop one year. Not gonna be terribly upset if I don't get in tomorrow as long as I have one in my hands on launch day.

I might try Best Buy too actually... Woud be nice to just pick it up in person instead to waiting on delivery. Only problem is how terrible their site was working the other day. Decisions decisions.

I'm leaning towards Amazon because I have so much credit thru them.... but Best Buy is my backup plan. I have a personal and work laptop so I'll be multi-tasking.

Cheap Ass Gamer has links to all the pre-order pages for each retailer (for both console variants) if anyone wants to get a head start and have the pages open and ready.

Not that it helped with the PS4 clusterfuck, but also a reminder to be logged into said site and have your payment plan saved so you only have a couple of clicks to buy.
