I never played these originals back in they day - would you say 3 is better than 2? Do we get to go back to the police station in 3?

Even though these games were full on survival back in the day (meaning APINTA) I'm hoping this one has the cheat code for infinite ammo right off the bat - say what you will but I still have a blast playing these games without a challenge - it's all about the scares and atmosphere for me.

No. I always preferred 2 over 3.

I don't think it ever goes to the Police Station. You're all over the city being chased by Nemesis for most of the game.

3 is far more actiony than 2 for sure.

I never really played 3 but it was always thought of as the lesser of the first three games. I avoided it because I had zero interest in a game where you're constantly being chased but I'll give this remake a shot.

Ha, they changed Jill's outfit. In the late 90's original, she had a very short skirt and in this remake she has jeans. This was no doubt done to avoid outrage from today's uber feminist culture.

Yes you get to go back to the police station but you don't get to explore it anywhere near the level that you do in 2.
I will give this a shot. I won't lie though, Code Veronica would have been my preferred game to be remade.

So according to an insider apparently this game and RE2 were supposed to originally come out as one package, but the games were taking too long so Capcom decided to split them up and release RE2 first. That's why this is coming out so soon after bc its been in development for 3 years. I wouldnt be surprised that when it gets ported to next gen, that the two are packaged together as originally conceived
But were they really only gonna charge $60 for both together?, I doubt it. Maybe for a bundle on XB2 & PS5.

2 is considered the best of the OG titles by most fans. The one thing that people back then wished they had more of was being able to spend time in the city, and 3 provided this.

That being said, I also preferred Code Veronica which was developed and intended to be Resident Evil 3. Internal politics over the Dreamcast vs PS saw Nemesis getting the 3 in the title.

That video put me over top and I did all on Xbox credit. The guys just said they felt so unsafe and tense at all times. I love that in my horror games and Resident Evil seems to nail it in many incarnations. I really like remastered 2 and will finish sometime, but this also just looks so good and same spirit as 2 remastered.
So this is same time frame as 2, right? Just different characters, different story, different part of Raccoon City?

Resident Evil 3 Remake: Safe Rooms Still Safe From Nemesis

Update:
Capcom confirmed that Nemesis will not be able to enter designated safe rooms, according to GamesRadar.

The story that Nemesis would be able to breach safe rooms, which previously were impenetrable to monsters in the game, came from a preview that reported Nemesis attacking Jill in a room with a save spot. Capcom says that there will be certain save points that aren't considered to be safe rooms. The music will a big indicator for which are which.

So while there is a chance Nemesis can attack you in an area you can save in, safe rooms will still be a nice respite you can relax in without fear.

Yes, although with some changes. 3 will have some dodge mechanics. Also the knife no longer has a durability bar as it will not break in 3.

Also the game has now gone as cheap as $39 for pre-orders on PC.

Re: Resident Evil 3 - PS4, XB1 (4/3/20)

Finally got around to playing the demo... Only took about 15 minutes to run through it though.

Knife now no longer has durability as it's unbreakable. This is a good thing considering how much more action is in RE3 than RE2.

The new dodge mechanics work nicely for jumping back while firing at zombies in a narrow hall way, but I had mixed results with using it during close combat often resulting in getting bitten trying to utilize the dodge to run past the zombie.

Zombies still take several bullets to the head sometimes. I found myself shooting zombies 3-4 times in the head with the pistol before they go down sometimes. Though sometimes a single shot will do a headshot. However using the shotgun a single shot to the chest would take the zombie out for good. So the shotgun will definitely be my best friend as usual in RE games, provided we maintain enough ammo of course.

Graphics look as great as ever.

Nemesis is still far more terrifying than Mr. X or Jack ever thought about being. Also I threw everything I had at him: two grendades, 3 shotgun blasts, and about 30 rounds from the handgun and nothing seemed to faze him. Luckily it was close to the end of the demo and I was able to run back around and to the place I needed to go with him right on my tail and the demo ended. Otherwise I'm not sure what I'd have done.

Honestly based on the demo alone... I can already say that 2 is more my jam and overall going to be better received than 3. RE fans generally prefer the slower horror aspect over the balls to the wall action but oh boy running from Nemesis for a large part of the game is going to be terrorfyingly frustrating I bet.

I doubt I'll get through RE3 nearly as quickly as I did RE2 though... and I'm really hoping they go on to remake Code Veronica and some of the other side-games now that 2 & 3 are done.

Nope. While the RE games all tell a much larger connected story, each individual game is done in a way that the story is also somewhat contained so that you can jump in at any game and not feel like you're missing out on some larger picture.

RE3 begins a day before RE2 in the timeline but then it goes like a day after the events of RE2. The Remake might shake this up a bit, idk though.

Re: Resident Evil 3 - PS4, XB1 (4/3/20)

Picked up my pre order from Best Buy which comes with a pretty sweet steelbook.

Just like RE2, I love this! Im not familiar with the original so most of the game is new to me. The one complaint I've seen in the reviews is that the length of the game is shorter than RE2 and I get the feeling as I play that they are right.

I don't play online games so RE Resistance is useless to me. I wish Capcom didn't skimp out on the single player experience by not adding post game modes.
