Supposedly it does for disc movies (not games or streaming).

^ Good to know. Thanks for that one Cow.

Alright Questyen, my daughter has been obsessed with beating your speedruns in Astro's Playroom...with mixed results. However, she has mastered the "monkey" level and is a rock climbing speed demon. It looks quite funny how she's got him going so fast up the rocks.

So yeah, we need a few other PS5 people to compete against.

Maybe not explicitly but my AVR was giving me the Atmos signal when I was watching a 4K disc with Atmos. Before that, I was getting the PCM signal. Was it a false read? I doubt most people even know about those hardware settings withing the PS5 while watching a 4K disc.

I'm tempted to post a picture but it's a pain the ass. I was testing out Ghost in the Shell 4K disc and I have the Sony STR-DN1080 7.2.

EDIT - Cow commented on it.

I only ever played through those speed runs once and had a low enough time to get the trophy. I'll have to play some more and try to improve my times.

Feel free to add me! SonicYogurt. I’m sure she’ll have no trouble beating my times (although they were good enough for the trophy).

Which external hard drive do you have? I won’t be getting a PS5 until Hitman comes out and I’ve been holding off on a ton of new games since I thought PS4 hard drives didn’t work.

I have this one -- bought during the start of our lockdown a few months ago:

Amazon Amazon

I have the 2 TB one.

They work fine for PS4 games. Just not for PS5 games. I just reformatted an old 1 TB X1 HDD and am using it to play PS4 games on. You don't get the fast loads that you would if you had them on the internal SSHD, but it works fine for playing the games as you would on a PS4 (including the PS Plus Collection or whatever they call that new feature).

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Is anyone playing Call of Duty on this? I'm curious what people's thoughts are about how the new triggers work with that game.

Actually, is anyone playing the new CoD at all? Seems like there is shockingly little discourse around it this year. Do we even have a dedicated thread for it?

Watch Dog Legion: The stability patch coming soon to PlayStation consoles may help with these crashes.

That's grammatically correct. Can't say they will definitely will before they're even out.

I'm beginning to think my console isn't charging my controllers at all. Put in rest mode, and both controllers have basically no charge. plugging into wall now.

I wouldn't recommend doing that yet.

Ahh. Miles Morales crashed on me once but it was mid game. I only use rest mode though. Not sure how those two would be connected in my case.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

New Miles Morales update did nothing to stop my crashes in the game. Apparently an 800 MB system update went out last night. I will download it today and see if that helps....

I made it into the Playstation Direct queue today, but it was pretty anticlimactic. I waited 30 minutes to find out there was nothing in stock.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Demon's Souls is hard and stupid, and I kind of love it (It's not my first Souls experience, but I never actually finished any of the other games.)
I'm starting to get the groove of this one, but still haven't actually beat a boss yet.
But man, this game is beautiful. I'm enjoying the experience of it more than Spidey, personally.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

So am I the only one here suffering frequent crashes? I am going to have to call Support if today's firmware update doesn't fix things.

I've put around 25 hours in so far across multiple games and haven't had a single crash.

I haven't had an issue since I started disconnecting my external HD when playing it and not using the rest mode at all.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Yeah, every time mine comes back from rest mode, it hangs and acts up. UI becomes slow, switching between game and home is laggy. Saving takes forever.
but booting from fully powered off makes a huge difference, and it's fine for hours and hours, as long as rest mode doesn't kick in.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I'm going to do my best to avoid using an external hard drive. Just limit myself to putting the 8-10 games I'm playing at a time on my console.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I put mine in rest mode every time and no issues. I think almost all the issues are with external hard drives which are an unnecessary item anyways.
