It sounds like there is going to be a PS5 Pro released next year with double the performance: https://www.gamesradar.com/ps5-pro-a...se-tech-giant/

Total speculation from TCL based on what happened last gen. They can't even produce enough PS5s and Xbox Series consoles to fulfill demand now, and pretty much every game that comes out is still cross-gen; the prospect of them double-dipping in 2023 or 2024 doesn't seem grounded in reality. I can believe there may be more efficient/lower cost redesigns, but the equivalent of a Pro or One X? I really doubt it.

I dunno man, if anybody would know it would be TCL.

Yeah, a new model seems premature especially with 8k output. That’s not mainstream yet. I can see a “Slim” model which is actually normal for Xbox’s life cycle.

Well shit ...another chance to get the PS5 direct from Sony lost by me. The time they gave me was right in the middle of a class I was teaching and I just couldn't do it (unless I wanted to get in trouble with the Dean and Chair). For some reason the e-mail notification was really late too. It was dated last night but it didn't even show up for me up earlier in the afternoon today.

I got the email invitation from Sony today as well to get a PS5. The time to get it is between 11am and 4pm PT. I will be at work during that time, but will probably have a moment or so to get one.

Has anyone here bought it through that system or are there bots that steal them up quick? I mean hell, I can't imagine the demand is still super high. I see hundreds of unsold consoles still highly marked up on Ebay. The console is fast approaching 2 years old and isn't exactly super cheap to unload unless those scalpers want to lose money.

I go on vacation in a few weeks and I don't really "need" a PS5 badly right now. But, I'm afraid if I pass on this, I may never get another shot since B&Ms never seem to get any new stock.

I got mine that way the first time they went on sale. It was initially frustrating because I couldn't get through but eventually I did and they shipped it right away at launch. It's probably the best way to get one.

That is how I got mine back in October 2021.

My window was from 2pm to 6pm on a Friday. I was at home working in my studio, so I logged in right at 2pm and got in the queue. While the queue initially said it would be an 8 hour wait, within 20 minutes it had dropped to 5 minutes then all of a sudden my screen refreshed and it asked me if I wanted a digital edition or a disc-drive edition. I clicked in the disc-drive edition, went through checkout (with no extras), and got a delivery date of the following Wednesday. Lucky me, I was home sick on Tuesday when it was delivered early.

Very smooth experience for me.

I just hopped in the queue. It just jumped from 12 minutes to 1 hour plus wait. WTH?

Don't despair and don't give up. This isn't like concert tickets, if you're in queue, and got the invite, there's a chance you can get one even if it takes a while to purchase.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Sold out.

Waited about 45 minutes. Had about less than 1 minute left, it took me to my PS sign-in and then took me to the PS store and all product is completely sold out. Disc and Digital.

Oh well....

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I think this was a sign and a good one that I probably didn't really need to spend $500 right now, especially with a trip coming up.

I guess it's back to the waiting game on the PS5.

It's like a lottery and you are placed randomly. If it places you at 'over an hour', 99% you are out of luck.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

The next State of Play will be on June 2nd at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET.

30 minutes of "announcements and updates", with some "exciting" third-party reveals and a first look at PSVR2 games

And being a State of Play rather than a PlayStation Showcase, don’t expect a lot of huge, seismic first-party announcements.

Mine initially said over an hour, and then after about 5 minutes it dropped down to 10 minutes, which was accurate. After those 10 minutes, I was able to complete my purchase.

Maybe it has changed from way back when I was on the hunt, but everytime I started with 'over an hour' (which was many times), by the time I got in everything was sold out. The time I was successful, it put me in at 15 minutes wait immediately.

I got mine from the email system as well. It just takes some luck. Hope everyone gets one eventually! :fc:

Quite possibly. I got mine a few months ago or so, so I imagine the demand had died down quite a bit.

Just a reminder...the Dual Sense Controller is still on sale at $59....all colors....I needed to grab one anyways since it can be used for PC Gaming and Diablo Immortal Beta starts tomorrow and it's listed....

I picked up a Cosmic Red because, well, it's cool as hell.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I was disappointed with red. I have red controllers for every system and the Dual Sense is too pink when compared to the rest.

I love the Cosmic Purple though, so much so I bit the bullet on the matching base plates.
