Everything post Need For Speed Rivals has been pretty mediocre imho. I'll pass unless this gets glowing reviews.

Hmmm. I havent really enjoyed one since Underground. I just need night time racing with lots of neon lights. Which I did see some in the trailer.

Looks fun, looks cool... but at the end of the day it's a flimsy story, cliched characters and not enough customization to warrant a buy --- basing that assumption on every NFS game since the original Xbox version (which was great). I'll wait until it's free on EA Access in January.

I also hate how the last iteration forced you to race off-road and use ALL the vehicle types. It's akin to swimming levels in adventure games ---- hate when I'm forced to play levels that are frustrating or not in my wheelhouse.

Need for Speed Underground 2 was the last NFS title I thoroughly enjoyed.

Now that I think about it, I did enjoy Undercover on PS3. That had a great story and it was easy to go from one race to another. The highway races were pretty fun.

But I still want Underground 3.

A new low for EA... I generally don't care about loot boxes or the sort, but this is utter bullshit.

It's crazy that the game comes out in a few weeks and there has been nothing on it for a few months now. No marketing push or onslaught of new videos or anything. They are just sending it out there to die. You would think with no new Forza game this year they would try to capitalize on that, but it doesn't appear so.

I've always had a soft spot for the NFS series but after the excellent XBox 360 version (I forgot the title) - they all seem to be going a little too millenial / trite for my liking. Every character is a cliche' and every plot point could have been written by a 13 year old.

Both Most Wanted games on last gen were great, one was a launch title and the other towards the end. Rivals was great too and that was a launch game for this gen.

Has anyone checked this out on EA Access or pick up a copy? It looks like it's in the 70's on Metacritic, depending on which version you are looking at. IGN gave it an 80. I'm kinda glad it's not a complete trainwreck, now I just have to wait until our library carries it. It will also be $35 on BF, I believe at Target.

I've heard there's some shitty rubber-band A.I. in this game (though there almost always is in racing games). Hopefully that gets patched. So I'll wait for that, along with the inevitable price-drop.

I played the demo last night... freaking loved it. I hate that I love it too because I have other games I "want" to play -- but this was just fun. Great controls, great graphics and the story (so far) wasn't a complete millenial-cliche'd mess. I don't know that I'll pick it up at full price just because of my backlog but if there is any semblance of a sale in the coming weeks, I'm in.

Hoping for a BF deal on PSN

$30 at Walmart on BF, also $35 at Target. I'm still hoping my library gets it in before then, because if not I know I'll be tempted. I'm ready for my annual fall/winter racing game.

The deluxe edition of this game is $46 thru Amazon digital right now. I opted for this given it's deluxe and I can avoid Walmart on BF, now.

You should point out that amazon's deal is only for the Xbox version and not the PS4.

The PS4 versions are also on sale on PSN. Deluxe version is $42.
