Arcade 1UP

Re: Arcade 1UP
Man, when I was in jr. high I had handwritten lists of all those MKII moves that I copied out of a magazine. I used to sit in my room and study them. 30 years later and I can't believe how many of them I still remember.

Finished putting together Ridge Racer last night. To make room for the 2 new cabinets, I moved my bookcase down into the family room area which opened up enough space to move a couple cabinets to the left side in this photo. I really like having the arcade in my kitchen area for easy access, before the eventual move to the basement. I still have the very large 4 player Simpsons cabinet to finish and find room for, so I either need to block off access to the family room, or go with a 4 row arrangement instead of semi-circle

It seems like they're unloading a lot of inventory lately. I assume these machines don't sell many copies at MSRP, and they must take up a lot of store space somewhere (Best Buy has a card you bring up to the register). And most homes cannot really accommodate more than one or two of them.
How long until they release a more powerful multi game console that can play dozens of different games?

Hell, I have a couple of bootleg arcade machines that play EXACTLY like the originals. I have a vertical screen one that plays around 65 games and a horizontal screen one that plays around 35. You would never know the difference between it and the official versions. And I have had those for at least near 10 years now.

Re: Arcade 1UP
I think Arcade1Up has a business strategy, preorder and sell as many units at full MSRP for 6 to 12 months, then start discounting each month until inventory is depleted. Some units are limited run and never need to be discounted or just a small sale (Marvel vs Capcom, Star Wars, or Burgertime), but the mass produced ones go through the cycle, and get re-issued again on a new cabinet each year (Pac-Man, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter II, etc), so it's just a matter of finding one that you like at the price you are willing to pay. Dig Dug (re-badged Pac-Man Legacy) is clearancing at $299 at Walmart's website right now, it's a beautful cabinet. But their Defender and Joust Midway cabinets are holding at their original $499 price point.
I really want to get the Dragon's Lair cabinet, it's on sale for $549, but I'm holding out for a sub-$400 price, but it may never get there and sell out forever, which is the risk.
It'll be interesting to see what gets released next year. Time Crisis appears to be a lock with rumored bundle with Point Blank. Star Wars is rumored to be getting a 2023 re-release also, that one is going for high prices in the used market. But looking at my want-list, and it's really small at this point. I like the classic games from the very early 80s, and I have most of them covered already, so maybe something with Moon Patrol, Q-Bert, Robotron, or Qix would be nice. Donkey Kong is unlikely but would be a day one purchase. I'm not really wanting to collect 90s era cabinets, but I couldn't resist the deep discounts for Ridge Racer, Terminator 2 and Simpsons which with the Kohls cash ran me around $200 a piece.

For those interested in the NFL Blitz cab, apparently Sam's Club is marking them down to anywhere from $172-$265. This is in store only.

If they released a Star Wars cabinet with the games that are featured in that sit-down, full surround cabinet, I'd be down for that.

I want that Star Wars Trilogy arcade game that had Hoth, TIE Fighters, speeder bikes and a fight with Vader. It was so expensive to play but I loved it.

Though I do see on YouTube that someone hacked it into an Arcade 1Up Space Invaders cabinet.

I finally got around to putting Star Wars together. It's really nice. The yoke controller works perfectly, and the game was very fun to play. I had to rework my gaming area slightly, putting 4 units back to back in a center row (Ridge Racer is on the other side of T2).

And it comes with a stool which would be around $80 by itself. It's a great deal.

Actually happy I don’t (or won’t) have the room for anymore this time. Not a fan of the game but might break down and get it at that price anyways if i could even if it was 95% for aesthetics as i love having a couple arcade games going in the room. Thanks for posting.

I never really cared for Killer Instinct, but that seems like an excellent deal for a 2-player cabinet that one could upgrade with new insides to play the games they want. The included stool and riser are a great deal, too. I am rather tempted by this.
Edit: Oops, it's gone. Sold out!
