So does it end after best him anyway? I figured so, so figured I wasn’t missing much...

Played the demo and immediately deleted. The combat was a huge step back from the last game. And how do you release a action game in 2019 without a dodge or roll button?

Huge thanks to everyone who downloaded and tried out the #DMC5 Xbox One demo! As of today, it will no longer be available for download, but it's still playable if you have it on your system.

So the time line had pretty much always been:
3 -> 1 -> 4 -> 2
and people were unsure if 5 would be before or after 2...
I've read somewhere that would seem to indicate that one of the devs indicated in an interview that parts of 2 were retconned in that it happens much earlier in the timeline of events bymoving 2 in the timeline to have happened before 4 instead of many years/decades later and that 5 takes place shortly after 4.
If this is true or not, I cannot confirm. I don't speak Japanese so have to rely on translations of the interview and I haven't even seen where the interview was posted. The only thing I've seen is people suggest that it did happen...
If anyone else has heard of such a thing or has any real source of where this came from, I'd love to hear more about it.

It's just easier to pretend that Part 2 is the Highlander 2 of the series and it just didn't fucking happen. God.... that game was such a let down.

AMAZING
Devil May Cry 5's trio of outstanding combat styles set a new high bar for the series, and its mysterious story keeps things interesting along the way.

Wow, consensus seems to be that this is the best of the series and a must-buy action game!
Jeeze, as if I need another game to buy.
BTW, I read that, unlike the demo, if you die at the boss, you don't go all the way back, but to a checkpoint right before the boss.

I think I’m going balls deep n Devil May Cry this weekend. Finish DmC. Don’t even know how far I am. Just killed the tv guy I believe. Where is that? But then I’m going into this. It’s really just button mashing and does aggravate my early onset arthritis in some fingers, but it’s just so damn stylish and graphically impressive and just plain fun. And reading/seeing some reviews I can’t wait. Though I was really liking RE2. Fuck Anthem, I think...

Anyone get into this yet? Does it tie to DmC, with Mundus and stuff, at all or can I just jump in?

Wrapped this one up. It's very, very linear. It's almost a side scrolling beat em-up. Short too, only about 8 hours on normal difficulty.

almost done with DmC (does this one factor in the 5th at all?) and then go for this. then maybe the others. you say 1 & 3 are more adventure/exploring type DMCs?

Nope. DmC is completely stand-alone from the rest of the series.
Capcom let NinjaTheory have a stab at the franchise with DmC (presumably because they were out of ideas and DMC4 didn't go over entirely that well in comparison to previous entries iirc) and it was more or less a reboot of the franchise that splintered the fan-base. Seemed like half the fanbase thought it was better than DMC4 while half outright disliked it because of how Dante was changed in both looks and personality.
