Yeah, you'll see a little bar at the top of the screen showing the two options. Random spot and random way to select.

I'm guessing they may have done it that way so you can carve a monster after the kill without having to go through another menu first; since you have limited time.

Broke the 60 hour mark and am just getting to the end of the story. I've done maybe 2/3 of the side quests available to me. I never played a MH game before this and I'm now hooked.

I’m hooked as well. First time MH player. Have about 30 hours of play time and just unlocked the GreatRavine. I suck badly (have to use SOS for almost every hunt) but it is very addicting. I’m still trying out the weapons so maybe that is my issue. Currently using the charge blade and have been doing ok. I can never remember the combos in the heat of battle though. Lol.

Most tutorials I watch on YouTube mention sticking with one or two weapons. The dual blades are the most beginner friendly. I think the charge blade is one of the bigger learning curves.

I've been using a bow exclusively. I started leveling up other weapons just because I have a ton of materials but the bow feels natural to me compared to the others.

Yeah, I started with dual blades, long sword, and sword/shield. Charge blade is a more technical weapon but it is finally starting to click. At least I think so. I watched a ton of videos too. Arekkz’s weapon workshops on YouTube are great.

I need to start practicing with a melee weapon purely because i'm jealous of seeing people mount/ride some of these monsters.

I really liked the switch axe. A little more technical than the hammer, which j started off with, but not as crazy as some of the other weapons.

I ended up playing 50-60 hours of this before the wheels fell off. Made it through the main story but the grind at high rank just didn't sink its hooks in. I made it to a point where I had to hunt a ??? monster by collecting data from each of the zones, and that was enough.

Still a great game though.

If anyone else is still playing, they just announced the planned update is set to launch on March 22nd. New monster to hunt and balancing adjustments to weapons.

I'm playing this. Couple of friends picked it up and we've been having a blast hunting monsters together. There's a crazy amount of shit to do in this game.

Oh yeah. It wasn't until I was about 100 hours in that I realized your room upgraded and you could use the net item to capture small animals and display them as pets. That added like another 50 hours of game play right there.

Yeah, I'm not nearly that far in. I just got melding items unlocked. Its pretty hard. The game doesn't tell you that a monster is too tough for you. You just get your ass handed to you.

I’m so bad at this game but I can’t stop playing. Lol. I can only solo the first monsters we were introduced to. Anjanath still kicks my butt. I use my flare or join others. I’m HR 14 with 80 hours logged so I’m definitely taking my time. I just switched to the lance (go lance bros!) and seem to be doing better. I love that shield. 1

Lance is a good weapon to start with due to the defense. Try experimenting with items to help your hunts, flash pods, traps, weapons that can cause sleep, barrel bombs...etc. There are some unique ways you can get through fights.

I have been going back and forth between dual blades and bow. I had fun with the blades, but it's hard to get in close on Diablos and some of those without a way to block. I like the bow a lot. I've always loved playing ranged characters.

Just made it through the main story and started on "plus" monsters. Nice reason to have to hunt some of those first guys again.

Ha, I did too (thanks Target!)...I watched a few of the videos and it seemed like something I should like. However, looking over the posts here it looks like a total time suck which means it will probably take me 3 to 6 months to start it and I'll play it on and off for a year. I have no self control, lol.

Well that settles it, this is when I'll actually start playing the game. LOL, awesome stuff.

He's been a busy guy lately. He has a Netflix series coming soon, he's in Soulcalibur VI, and now he's making an appearance in Monster Hunter. I guess I finally need to play Witcher 3 to see what all the fuss is about

I see this in the PS Store for 50% off and giving it a bit of a thought but wasn't sure if a lot playing it and/or moved on. I saw where they have a huge expansion coming later in 2019. I didn't play any of the previous ones and mainly wanted to try it for the co-op part.

Bought this a while back and didn't put as much time into it as I originally played.

Hopefully changing that soon!
