Couple hours in and it's pretty fun so far. Right now I'm playing Captain Boomerang because his traversal is cool and I like the way it's integrated into his combat.

The gist of the reviews I've read seems to be:

• Super-gorgeous visuals
• Story is whatever, although the characters are really well-written
• Deep customization
• Infectiously fun gameplay
• Boss fights are god-awful, and the final battle is a reskin of a previous
• There are really only 5-6 types of encounters that are repeated over and over and over and over and over
• The endgame seemed to unilaterally be met with "lol, no"

I'm sure I'll pick it up at some point, but I'll wait for patches/updates, more characters to be added (since it sounds like at least 2 more are on the way?), and a price drop. Hopefully by the end of the year this'll be in a really good place. (And maybe if the PS5 Pro rumors bear out, I could hook up my current PS5 elsewhere so my wife and I could play this co-op together; we haven't done not-couch-co-op since Anthem!)

I feel like the reviews I'm referencing agree that it's kind of a mess and a missed opportunity, and I'm sorry if my summary didn't make that clear. I could point to other games that execute some key elements brilliantly but whiff on building much of anything out of 'em -- Anthem and Agents of Mayhem are two that immediately spring to mind -- and it sounds like Suicide Squad is in that same vein. Ultimately, I did enjoy both of those other ones, warts and all, so maybe that'll be the case here too, but I don't intend to find out anytime soon.

The reviews I read this morning (which went up around an hour ago) are from Kotaku and Forbes, FWIW.

I actually deleted my post because I haven't played it and didn't want to be too negative. That said, sure it can be a mess and still fun. I liked Agents of Mayhem as well. Sometimes it's fun to just shoot stuff with friends.

Did anyone actually buy and play this? I see that the $100 Deluxe edition is $39.99 on PSN for PS Plus members and at that price (and with extras), it might be worth checking out if it's any actual fun -- if it's a semi-entertaining 'miss', like Gotham Knights game.

i just tried the trial for you Deck. It was quite enjoyable. I was really surprised. in the trial you start off with Deadshot or eye or whoever. It's pretty involved and the voice acting was great. i would definitely say it was more than just entertaining. I think I'm buying it. I still have so much credit.

Wtf? I bought it. I liked the trial and that’s a hell of a good deal. Sure it’ll be free soon on Plus or whatever, but I had the credit. Got Crash Bandicott 4 too.

This is on decent sale on Xbox Summer of Games or whatever, 21 bucks.
Is it worth that? I did like Crackdown and Agents of Mayhem. I will be playing solo, and don't really care about "this week's adventure is to collect 7 Kryptonite fragments for a new skin!" or whatever.

There's pretty much no way it doesn't come to GP/ PS+ soon. It already went free for Amazon Games. It's not brining in any other money. I'd wait (and am waiting).
