What will really matter is how fast Nintendo can send additional stock. They'll want to have enough sitting on shelves that anyone can walk in and buy one if they want, but not so many as to have retailers start sending back stock.

I still plan to get to Target at 6am with my phone, spare batteries and a bottle of water, with my folding chair. If they have more than the line, I'll buy another for a friend.

I've generally found Best Buy easier to deal with than Target in these limited quantity items that will sell out as soon as they are in stock.

These are decent numbers for initial shipments - even though they'll sell out immediately, at least it'll discourage scalpers, especially since they're going with a 1 per-person limit.

If those numbers are all accurate, props to Nintendo for delivering stock. Hope they can keep a steady supply too.

Some of the stores with bigger numbers will distribute to other stores. I think its pretty clear that most stores will have over 50 units per store, which will be nice.

This is looking pretty good so far. Let's hope the entire selling season is a success (i.e. all interested get one).

Those initial shipment numbers seem impressive. Let's see how it goes.

I have no intention of standing in line early in the morning waiting at either location. I want to be able to walk in casually and see it on the shelf. But, I'm fully anticipating that these initial shipments will sell out. I hope with more shipments coming out and an abundance of stock that this will fuck over the Ebay scalpers hard and they will be stuck with hundreds of dollars of unsold product that they can't sell.

They're having some launch party for this thing at the Nintendo store in midtown NYC, but I'd have to stand in line... I'll probably just wait until the middle of the week to pick one up instead.
