Re: Assassin's Creed: Origins - 10/27/17
I just started and am back in my town. I'm not thrilled with the fighting system so far. I just played through all of the previous Assassin's Creed games (and finished up Syndicate the day that Origins arrived) and I keep forgetting to lock on. Then using R1 & R2 for combat (PS4 version) is so unfamiliar that it's almost uncomfortable. And I miss the hell out of kill streaks (give me an Ezio "lost years" game please, please, please). I'm not sure about the leveling up either. It's early so I'm hoping it grows on me but it doesn't feel like an AC game yet.

Comparisons to The Witcher 3 are exactly what I don't want to hear about this type of game. Thanks for the heads up.

I get some Far Cry feeling... not sure about the Witcher 3 though as I have only played a little bit of it, trying to hold off until 11/07.

Is anyone having luck finding legendary weapons? I am level 18 and only ave 2. One is a cursed spear, that when you use it you only get 1/3 of your health.

I only have one, which I got as a reward for doing that special daily vendor mission (the one with the camel icon).
Love this game. The game world is amazing. I can't fathom the amount of work the devs must have put into creating a map so huge in such intricate detail.

I love it too, I haven't been this much into a game in about 4 years. I now have 3 Legendary, I killed a bounty hunter and received it from him. It's locked until I hit level 20 though.

I've got a friend at work who got this and said he's level 21 and really liking it with the combat but also the lore that's popping up...and some of it get's...I'll say without saying too much...out there. I told him with too much already if I were to get it I'd spend time doing sight seeing as the game just looks phenomenal....keep the reviews coming; hope this is in the Black Friday Stash.

I like the Assassin's Creed games but I realized that there's no point in getting it on Day One. I'll get this once it goes on sale during Black Friday or Boxing Day.
Nice to see that this game is good and wasn't an initial mess like when Unity was released.

The 2nd was also in Giza, I was on a mission to rescue someone, I walked by the cage he was in and he yelled for help. I waited to get him until I killed off all the guards. When I came back he was not in his cage but the Icon for the mission was still there. I had to restart the objective and then was able to rescue him.

This is not a per-game related story I saw.....but then again could it be?....

I've had this game for about a week now and am loving it. The level of detail in recreating Ancient Egypt is astonishing. I'm at level 12 or 13 and haven't found a single legendary weapon yet.
One nitpick I have is that the pyramids were hundreds of kilometres from Alexandria, and would not be able to be seen from there.

In AC2, I was able to throw bodies off buildings to freak out the guards, which I don't think you can do anymore. The Egyptian populace also seems remarkably chill to seeing murdered corpses in the streets.

Also, it's fantastic how much the climbing mechanics have improved since AC1. I know that was a while ago, but I still remember the frustration.

So managed to start playing it this weekend and enjoying it so far.. Par for the course so far, a little getting used to controls and gameplay, but its a lot of fun and its real pretty. A lot of gaming catching up to do, but gonna have a blast between now and New Year.

Reading the comparison to Far Cry intrigues me. I've only ever tried one other Assassin's game, don't remember which and didn't finish it.
Can you just play this one and have a good time without knowing all the lore? I've got no time to play 6-8 other games.

It's a little overwhelming at first - not quite knowing what to do and where to go when you're first given the freedom to do so.
