Yeah, the PS3 is still better than both, which is sad in a way. The PS4 especially, with lack of Harmony support to power it on and even do some basic controls, is terrible especially when you consider that dumb blue light on the controller and how it just drains batteries.

No, still using my PS3 as my primary BR player. Just set up a dedicated videogame room in my house; that's where my PS4 (my primary console) is located. The PS3 is out in the living room with the bigger tv and better surround sound set up

No for me. There was a short time last year when I was using my PS3 in the living room for this duty but I now have region-free players in both my home theater and my living room.

Well, they're not, but funny that this question popped up.
After years of being a Nintendo/Sony household, we finally went to the dark side and bought an XboxOne S (Minecraft bundle) this weekend. We've been looking to create a second home theater in the bedroom, and my wife had toyed with the idea of building a PC, but after having to buy and return a bunch of parts for various reasons we threw in the towel and got the Xbox.
So I answered the poll as no, but going forward it will be our bedroom media player and I wanted to confirm what all discs it will play. DVD and Blu of course, but those new 4K UHD discs also?
thanks

Well, we don't have the 4K tv in the bedroom yet, but it's next. We have the Xbox in the living room while we download the updates and such, but our plan is to have something nice in another room (we're in a 2 bedroom condo with a kid) and we tend to crowd each other in the living room.

PS3 is still the primary Blu-ray player in my home theater.
PS4 is for gaming and some streaming in the den.

Yes. I mostly use the XBox One S for Blu-ray and UHD. There's an Oppo hooked up to the same TV, but I don't really use it much... it's region-free, though, so that's why I keep it around.

My PS3 is still my primary blu-ray player and media streamer (NetFlix, Hulu, PS3 Media Server, etc.).
Mostly due to the remote controller, but also for the cleaner interface, which I like better than the PS4's.

I voted no because I don't use my PS4 for that purpose. Occasionally I'll use my PS3, but most of the time I use my PC.

Wow, I'm really surprised at results. I really thought everyone would have a dedicated machine. I wouldn't even think about using One as a player. The controls are clunky imo.

Using any game controller is terrible, but the XB1 media remote isn't that great either. I prefer the PS3 media remote, and the 360 media remote was better than the PS3.

Re: Is your PlayStation 4 or Xbox One also your primary Blu-ray player?
This question has literally made me realize that after buying myself a PS4 on Black Friday, I have yet to actually put any kind of disc in it. At all. So no, I wasn't even completely aware my PS4 played Blu-rays. Until now.
To answer the original question, I bought my parents a new TV last year that came with a $75 store credit, so I picked up a Sony player for practically free, and that is my go-to for discs.

I use the Xbox One as my primary Blu-ray player, after previously using the PS3. The PS4's lack of compatibility with my Logitech Harmony means it gets little use media wise, while the Xbox One is used for Blu-ray, Netflix, Amazon Video as well as some downloaded titles thanks to USB drives and media sharing. It's a great media player, in my opinion.

I also use the Xbox One as my primary player after previously using my PS3. If I had space for both I'd go back to using the PS3 because I have the remote which is really nice. Haven't bothered picking up the Xbox One media remote as it looks chintzy to me. I really don't see much point in a stand alone Blu-ray player of a person has a console. The only thing that would persuade me to maybe get a dedicated player is if I were to go region free. Other than that I don't need something else taking up space when another item can do the job fine.
