be gentle--newbie to virtual reality

i read the VR thread and sadly, it made no sense to me... please try and dumb it down as much as possible! i have no shame in my ignorance

hubby bought a headset and controller that work with his samsung phone (amazon links below).

im trying to see if there are any units like this compatible with an iphone? 12 yr old and 15 yr old that arent super video game tech saavy so i think they would be ok with the same type of quality...

any ideas????

and good games that you would recommend out there for both the iphone and for the samsung phone one?

Re: be gentle--newbie to virtual reality

You probably could've just asked this in the VR thread; people likely would've been happy to simplify it for you.

Apple doesn't have its own official VR headset or VR platform. However, there's a ton of headsets that can work with an iPhone:

http://www.vr-iphone.com/comparison/

I don't think there's a "VR" category in the Appstore, but they look to tend to have a "VR" logo or image of a VR headset on the app icon. Here's some lists:
http://www.vr-iphone.com/game-list/
http://www.techradar.com/news/wearab...-games-1300284

And in general, the VR headsets can be broken into three categories:
  1. Headsets for Smartphones (GearVR, Cardboard, Daydream, etc.)
  2. Headsets for Consoles (just PSVR for the PS4 right now)
  3. Headsets for PCs (HTC Vive, Oculus Rift)

In terms of quality and performance and price, smartphone headsets are the lowest, and PC headsets are the highest. Part of the process in deciding which one to go with is how much you're willing to spend, how good an experience you want, and sometimes what you already own.
