Yeah, I was thinking about this the other day. Digital pricing never seems as good as physical, especially on release day, but if you're patient you can get digital gift cards for ~20% off. I just bought $50 of Xbox credit for $40.50, and coupled with Bing Rewards credit I get once in awhile makes it pretty nice.

Nintendo EShop gift cards don't seem on sale as often or as much though.

Anybody else have issues with the Switch? Mine won't boot past the Switch logo screen. I've tried resetting, multiple button combinations, etc. Trying to drain the battery now.

Just started Zelda. Man, this game is great. Picking it up at a BB or something and playing a "demo" doesn't do this game justice. I still suck donkey balls at combat, though.

I also picked up Xenoblade Chronicles 2 just a couple of days ago.

I gotta slow down as we just got the Switch a couple of weekends ago. Already have two docks, an extra Nintendo brand adapter, Pro Controller, Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, Kirby and the games mentioned above. It helps to have that Gamers Club Unlocked from Best Buy to soften the blow a bit.

okay, so I need help with my Switch controller configuration. Everything was working fine this morning in handheld mode. My son drained the battery and after charging it back up the controllers aren't working right in handheld mode. If they are disconnected from the switch (i.e. one in each hand) they operate properly. If I connect them to the Switch, only one gets recognized. Either the left one gets recognized as being connected to the Switch and the right side is not seen. Or the right side is seen as disconnected from the Switch and the left side is not seen.
I can't play any games as every one pops up asking me for the controller config. and I can't enter it.

Any ideas? I tried turning the system all the way off and I used the joycon finder thing and they each vibrate like they are supposed to. So the system recognized both controllers...maybe its the connection on the Switch? that would suck. I don't have another set of joycons to test that theory.

EDIT: Nevermind. I ended up holding the "pair" button on the joycons and then connecting them to the Switch as the lights were blinking. That seemed to work.

I know this is the general consensus but I like Mario Odyssey a lot more. Zelda is very good but the breakable weapons kill it for me, What's the point of getting better gear if it's going to break after you use it just a few times?

Yeah I thought the breakable gear would get annoying, but I am sort of enjoying that new twist. Makes it more challenging

I haven't finished the game yet, but of the 60 some odd hours I played this game; I maybe spent 10 hours practicing combat, and I've become pretty good with a bow. The other 50 hours I spent cooking and hunting, shit gets addicting. Glad you're enjoying the game, it doesn't hold your hand at all and its honestly my favorite thing about the game.

Turns out, that was the case. My son took it to DC with him and brought the Nyko charging dock that I had purchased at Gamestop over black Friday and hadn't used before. Now that he is back, I've tried charging with the Nintendo power supply, but it will not take a charge. Fortunately, it is still under warranty.

I know I could have saved a few bucks but went Nintendo all the way when it came to a second dock, another adapter (3rd one in total) and even the Pro controller. Do not want the headaches that some third party accessories can sometimes cause.

Since the update I've been nervous about buying an external bank for charging in portable mode. Anyone have suggestions?

Yikes. I just started using a third party travel dock on a trip. Thankfully it’s the Insignia model that doesn’t seem to be a problem. Still how weird to have an update brick Switches with a third party dock. It seems like it’s a pretty simple accessory. I hope Nintendo takes care of everyone affected.

Nyko was very good about it. Offered to replace the Switch and dock (had to send them both in) but the Nintendo warranty covered it so I went that route in hopes of keeping the save files.

Yikes, glad I didn’t use anything third party with my Switch. I thought about getting an external battery pack as well but never got around to it. I think I’ll hold off on that idea for a while.
